I finally crunched down and got me a AR-15, I really wanted a FN FAL, but those things are becoming collector items nowadays. This thing is sick (Probably because it is my first assault rifle), but I was getting 1.2" groups at 100 Yards with this thing with just Iron Sights.

It's my baby *Fights Tear*

I couldn't believe it when I got to the shop, they were selling them for $575 because they said they bought like 200 of them and got a dirt cheap wholesale price.

When I called and they said $575 I was thinking "Used and beat up" (It was at a Pawn shop), but it was "New in Box"

At my local Gander Mountain the same gun was selling for $1,200

$575 is a good/normal price for a M&P 15 sport around here.

$1,200 should/would have gotten you a much high-end brand like Daniel Defense (I really hope Gander mountain isn't selling them for that --probably the non-sport version).

IDK, but down here a plain jane AR at WalMart is $900. Everything down here firearm wise has been extremely high as of after the "Scare".

9mm is up to around $20 a box for cheapo ammuniton

You can't even find .22lr ammo

So as of right now $575 for an AR is a steal down here in Alabama

it is my first assault rifle
Please don't go creating troll food like that. When your local PD buys one of those, they call it a "Patrol Rifle". When Homeland Security buys one, they call it a "Personal Defense Weapon". Unless you intend to assault someone with it, I'd call it something other than what you did. ;)

That's probably because you aren't looking online (and who shops for guns at WalMart? ;)' where there is plenty of stock nearly everywhere (even locally for me in PA). Hell, I saw a Colt (considered the gold standard all others are still judged by) for $899 the other day.

I had my two brothers, my cousin, and my best friend all buy their from Palmetto State Armory. On their "premium" models they use Fabrique Nationale (which supplies our armed forces) chrome-lined barrels. They paid $150 for a complete lower, then $370 to $499 for a complete upper (depending on if they wanted a free-float rail or not). That's $520 for an amazing rifle with all the high-end specs you should be looking for.
