New to the forum, and e-smoking.

Yesterday at work I was out in the smoking area when a couple of my co-workers came out and the topic of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) came up. I've never heard of them up until today, but one of my co-workers tried one and she was amazed at it. So, I decided to drive down to the local mall where they are selling them to try it out for myself.

After asking the guy a number of questions (like the price), he let me demo one of them. I was simply amazed. Looks like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette, feels like one, acts like one, but it doesn't give you the chemicals that will ultimately kill you. It even has a light in the front that both mimics the burning end of a real cigarette, and also as an indicator if the battery needs to be recharged.

It is the ultimate nicotine delivery system. I was truly amazed at it. I was sold, but told the guy I was a bit strapped for cash. So, he gave me the Smoking Everywhere Gold kit at a discount. $150.00 instead of the usual $200 price tag. The standard kit was $150.00

Oh wait, did you say $150? Yes, I did. Sure the initial investment is a bit steep, but smokers, it will end up saving money in the long run (along with your life).

The nicotine cartridges are refillable. Guy is going to get stock of bottles of the nicotine liquid to refill the cartridges. $40 will get you the equivilant smoke of about 80 packs of real cigarettes. As the price of a carton of real cigs are almost at $100, you'll end up saving $760.00 with one bottle. Nice.

Now, after trying it, I was convinced I was smoking the real thing. The only difference was I did not experiance the irritation in my throat/lungs, plus the room did not start to stink, and I was not putting in the other 2000 deadly chemicals into my body. Plus the fact I was "smoking" in a public place right next to a large "NO SMOKING" sign was kinda fun. (the guy set up shop purposely next to a pillar that had the sign. Cute marketing trick)

There is something though. The nicotine is delivered by a mist, and not smoke, which causes the nicotine to enter the bloodstream much faster than a normal cigarette. So if you do try one, don't OD on it, because that can be easily done with these e-cigarettes. After a few drags, I did start feeling a bit dizzy because I was trying too hard.

After getting it home though, I learned how to use it. Man, this is so much better than real cig smoking. Plus I can wean myself off. It's PERFECT for me to quite smoking.

It's just a shame that the FDA needs to get involved. In the end, it's all about $$$ with the gobernment, and not your health and welfare.

At this point, I will never go back to regular cigs. I even got my landlord hooked. and he's a cop who's a heavy smoker.

And howdy on the forum. It's my first post.

And howdy on the forum. It's my first post.

First - WELCOME to the Forum.

Second - Update your profile, so we know where you are. You'll be surprised how many people are near you.

Third - You're first e-cig was a bit pricey, but 90% of us paid more than usual for our first one. Consider it a "starters fee". You're going to love it.

Scan the forum, and you'll find cheaper supplies, and kits. I suggest you first look into spare atomizers. At least 2 or 3 spares. They're unpredictable, and you don't want to get caught without a spare. juice is the next thing. Refilling cartridges is the best thing. You can go broke buying cartridges. Keep the old ones, they can be restuffed, and refilled.

again, welcome to the forum.
Cheers;

I'm quickly learning these things Jim. :) The Internets is a great place to learn things. LOL Up until yesterday, I didn't even know what an e-cig was, much less smoked one.

I actually got a pretty good deal from the guy I bought my initial kit. It has 4 boxes of refills, 5 cartridges each. Works out to 2 cartons of smokes for $150.00. At the price of cigarettes today, it was a killer deal. Otherwise I would have paid $170 for real cigs if they are at $90 a carton, which is about right.

I'm a 2 pack a day smoker. The past day I smoked only 2 real cigs. Somethings working here. :p

I was 2 packs a day for 40+ years. Truthfully, you'll go through those cartridges fast. They don't last as long as they say. Get some juice ASAP. The minute you dry up all those cartridges and have no spares or juice, you know you'll go back to those stinky ciggies.

I plan on getting the juice, but right now I'm taking mental notes on how many cartridges I go through in a day. I'm on day two and it's three cartridges used so far. Which pretty much hangs about right with my current smoking situation, if the cartridges advertisment of a pack of smokes is true. So far they seem to be working as advertised. :p

welcome Jim, and thanks for posting :)

happy you were able to have a good first experience w/ ecigs, hope you'll browse the forum and check out all the different vendors, you'd be surprised how far $150 can go!

Very true! My first was from epuffer.com for $89...all the rest of mine have been at a much lower price thanks to this forum. They do have good products and I had good luck with the service, but I've found so many better places right here that only take a couple of days to get to me so that was probably my first and last order to them. :)

Yeah, I checked e-puffer today and plan on getting those refills. One bottle should last me about a month. I should go and buy a years worth. No wonder the FDA wants to regulate and prevent this from coming into the USA. Imagine how much money the government would lose? So much for them caring about our HEALTH.

Anyways, today I'm on cartridge 5, which is actually working out about right as far as if they go as long as a normal pack of cigs work out, as a 2 pack a day smoker. The thing I've noticed is that I smoke LESS than my normal intake. Probably because the other 2000 deadly chemicals in a regular cigarette inhibit an effective absorption of nicotine, whereas the mist delivers it cleaner. Plus another thing noticed today. My chest is starting to feel like it did on day 3 when I tried stopping smoking a few months back. I can actually breath again! :)

Best investment ever. Saving money, my lungs, and my life. Can't beat that with a stick. :thumb:

WELCOME!! You will be able to save even more money when you get into mixing your own flavors and stuff. There are a lot of good threads related to that, when you are ready, but you sound like you are there or really close.......;) Best of luck!

Yep, I wish I would've seen this forum before I bought my first one also, but it's all good. I tell you what though, if the guy I bought mine from didn't throw in an extra bottle of Apple flavored juice, I would not be on these PV's... Personally I thought the starter cartridges that came with the DSE 901 were absolutely horrible, and they were supposed to be marlboro flavored. Ugh... Hated them.. Suffered through 1 cartridge, refilled it with the Apple, not great, but much better... Still working on the Apple now, waiting on my shipment of juice to come in...
