If you don't mind straying from the traditional feel of a cigarette I'd say look into a battery tube mod. I have the BB from altsmoke.com and couldn't be happier. It's a smaller mod with a 510 connection. I put a fully charged 14500 battery in it and can vape on that for about 2 days depending on my need for nicotine ( I got 3 days out of a battery once and was blown away). I also get a nice solid 3.7v from my BB. Vapor production is great and I get a nice throat hit (I find juice plays the major factor there). Good luck on the search for your new ecig.

What should you get is always a tough question. That, dearheart, depends on the size of your wallet and the amount of patience you have.

The typical starter e-cig takes patience -- refilling juice, charging batteries, lugging around chargers. Many people get tired of all the fussing around and upgrade as soon as they can to a preferred low maintenance e-cig.

For myself? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My 510s (+2 mega batts) i ordered over 3 months ago are still going strong. When they die, I will definitely order a Chuck, one of the hardiest of the mods group. You won't find the owner of a chuck who doesn't simply adore it. Some even order two and three of them. And they take non-proprietary batteries -- something you won't have to stock up on in case of a future FDA ban. And the repairman/genius is right here in the USA. SuperTManufacturing is another USA choice.

Many ppl take a middle step and upgrade to an eGo/Tornado/Riva, or Hello016 before they take the full plunge to a non-proprietary battery mod. Don't know why, but that's their choice.

Personally, I have tons of atomizers and I don't want to have to add tons of proprietary batteries when I could just order an e-cig mod that takes just normal American batts I can order from any electronics website (when I need them).

So that choice is up to you. Many ECF veterans advise a noob to start with a 510 or KR808-1, but I don't agree. I mean, I'm not mentally challenged or anything. The learning curve isn't that big. If you bought a Chuck for $80 and decided you didn't like to vape, you could most definitely sell it on the classifieds in 5 minutes for $65 (to me, LOL), so you wouldn't be out as much money as you would be trying to re-sell a 510.

Just food for thought.

I just got a 510 today it cost me $30 for a starter kit from nicotine nirvana. other than battery life it has been great so far. (Ive had to charge it twice in addition to the 8 hour initial charge). it has great vapor and a good feeling going down I am totally satisfied but also ignorant of other brands since ive been vaping for a short period of time.

Well, to some extent, the question is whether you've got that $80 to spend in the first place.

I spent $100 total on my kit, extra parts, juice, and enough DIY stuff to last me 4-6 months. Because doing it the hard way is the only way I can afford to do it at all.

I don't have the money to spend $80 on a unit by itself, and then juice and parts on top of that. I got my Kr808 kit, it does the job, I like it, and it cost me $35. I'm not buying any other model. Because I can't really afford it.

It's entirely possible there's some other model I may like even more, but I like this one, and I've stopped smoking. If it ain't broke...

But I AM broke. So that's a consideration for some of us.

Yes, exactly. Like I said in my first paragraph of my reply -- it depends on the size of your wallet. I saw the $35+$5 S/H from cignot and jumped on that quickly. Then, the batteries didn't last long enough, so I had to buy another starter kit -- another $40. So that equals $80, the same price as a Chuck.

But, I agree w/you MistressNomad, some ppl can't or don't want to put the $80 out at first. I didn't cuz I didn't really know what vaping was and if it was going to work for me. I'm glad I bought my 510s, cuz I can always share them among my friends and those who want to try it first.

But, apparently, the OP knows she wants to vape, and she asked a Q that I thought I should answer truthfully for her. The Chinese want our American dollar. Sure, they've got the most .....en mods you've ever seen over there -- after all, it's their invention and their technology. But you won't see them selling them to us. No, they want our dollars for their batteries and their atomizers, etc. -- a steady stream of American dollars over many years.

But what if there was a ban tomorrow without any warning? Nobody prepared and got themselves into a safe zone. What good are 2, 3, or more different Chinese e-cigs if you're going to have to pay quite large black market prices for to get parts and replacements for? I just like to encourage ppl to get themsselves into a safe zone B4 they go buying lots of different e-cigs.

I think choosing one's e-cig is a personal call. And, myself, I'm going to get myself in a safe zone first, then fool around w/all the cutsie-pie eGos and T-Rex's and Hellos and lady pipes, etc.

BTW, I've seen your posts lately, and you really give good advice and they are all well-written. If I haven't said it before, welcome to ECF. You have a kind and helpful heart towards others -- a real asset to ECF. Hope you stay for a lonnnnnng time. :)

Yeah, it's a really different process when you know "Ok, whatever I buy, that's all I can buy for the next few months. So I gotta get this right the first time." Goodness knows how many hours I spent researching, price-comparing, etc. I even had a text file with everything, what it cost, where I was getting it from, shipping prices, and coupon codes all typed out so I knew EXACTLY what I was spending.

And hey, I got it right the first time. I went to a lot more trouble than most people probably would, but, it just goes to show even broke people can have a great e-cig experience.

I see what you mean about the potential ban. Honestly, I don't mind sending my American dollar to China, since they are the inventors of these things, and they save lives. Well done, China. But there's lots of ways you could choose to deal with the ban.

There's a DIY box mod tutorial floating around here somewhere. For someone like me? That's probably the route I'd go. But like I said, I am willing to go to enormous amounts of trouble to save money. But no doubt something like a Chuck is money well-spent. It's just a lot of money.

P.S. Thank you! :) I was actually a little paranoid people would find me a bit obnoxious... I'm just so impressed with this that I want to help everyone I can get on board.

I'm new to all of this I just want something that won't give me the hassel of it not vaping cause of cheap cartridges like the one blu has I want something that last hours and juice I need to find which I like best but I need something trust actualy vaps blu doesn't vap at all

I'm getting really good mileage out of my Kr808D-1. The batteries are lasting me between 5-7 hours, sometimes a bit more, depending on how I'm vaping. The cartomizers are lasting me 4-6 hours.

I got my kit for $35, plus $6 shipping, here. Got here in 2 days, and very happy with it. They sell juice, too:

KR808D-1 Series Kits

Cartomizers are different from cartridges, and they are advertises as "one-time use," but can be refilled several times pretty easily. I've already re-filled most of mine 4 or 5 times and they're still vaping fine. This is the method I'm using, quick and painless:

There ya go, atta girl. Then you'll always be safe -- just attys to stock up on. I wish I knew how to solder.
Make two mods -- one for yourself, sell the other to someone who's got a smoker's cough. ;)

Lots of good deals on Tornados and eGos(same thing) in the for sale section. I started with Blu, fell for that great web page they have. Sent those back for a refund and got a Tornado. 510 is the way to go.

If you want a good PCC kit, instead of the Magma check out the Gemini from Revolver. That kit comes with a PCC that charges manual batts(and a manual batt)....Do not give up, Blu is not a good representation of what is out there.

The Vapor King is a Kr808D-1 model. That's what I have, and I love it. It has a loyal following here for sure. :)

Got me off analogs completely, and I'm very happy with it.

If you buy a base model first, it does allow you to decide what you do and don't like about it. I have a 510 and I do like the size of it. I think that it fits very comfortably in my hands. I am quite certain I would not like the larger battery mods. For an upgrade I am eyeing the GG Slim and the Precise. When I was looking at the Precise, I thought I do not like how the atty screws in. If I did not have a base model, I would not have know that this is something that might bug me.

I could probably afford to get both to try them out. But the reason I could probably afford to get both to try out is I am cheap and hate spending money on something I won't use. The only reason I got the 510 is because the husband got it so I was able to try it out before getting a set of my own. :p
