So i finally picked up my first set up yesterday. Protank 2, airflow control, and itaste v3 battery. Really enjoying the set up so far. It's been almost 28 hours now without a real cigarette. I really wanted one yesterday and one this afternoon but fought the urge. I picked up two flavors when at the shop and the girl there recommended 12mg for nicotine based on my 1 pack a day habit. I really thought I would need higher then that. It seems that no matter how much I vape nor how quickly I do it, I don't get any of the normal cigarette feelings. Should I bump up my nicotine level in the next bottle? I'm looking to order another tank and some more flavors tonight, anyone recommend a good website to get liquid? I've been told to check out nicquid.com but that's the only place so far. Thanks guys! Here's to many more days without analogs :)

Edit: Also, yesterday it seemed like every 10 hits or so I would get a really hard hit and I would start to cough/choke for just a second nothing too crazy. Is this just getting used to vaping or maybe my liquid? I try lowering the volts/watts when this happens but always end up turning them back up. I'm running 7.5watts right now pretty comfortably.

This is an interesting approach to quitting. I was/(I guess technically still am) a 3 pack a day smoker so maybe its just 'different' for me but I went into vaping with the attitude of cutting back until I was ready to take the plunge and so far it's worked flawlessly. I'm down to less than a pack a day sometimes 1/2 a pack without a thought of missing anything. If I feel like having a smoke I have one, but more and more, I don't feel like having one. I guess I'm weak willed and want to make this as painless as possible.

If it were me personally and I'm not suggesting this is what you do but, I wouldn't quit entirely until I preferred it over smoking, and I had found a juice that worked for me as an ADV. I'm sure this is not the most popular answer here but thats the way I feel about it.

As for finding a liquid that works for you? Let me know when you do because I haven't found one yet either. I do know its much cheaper to order some pg, vg, and nic along with some flavors you think you will like and starting mixing your own. I have a feeling this is the approach I'll need to take.

Most people who smoke a pack of analogs a day usually start at 24mg. then work there way down. Every person is different. Also take in account the brand you used to smoke were they full strength if not 18 mg, I started at 24mg and am now down to 6mg. but keep juice 24mg down to 6mg depending on my needs. very rarley touch 24mg any more but there are times. As far a ejuice is also concerned people will tell you a lot of different places to look at, again every ones tastes are different. I personally like E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Juice - Mt Baker Vapor prices are good juice is good you can get small to large sizes. If you are not sure about pg/vg try 50/50. also some site will recommend what there standard is. exp.... 80/20 or 60/40. more vg equals more vape but dont chase the cloud yet, Work on kicking the analogs.

I started off at 18mg. I vaped like a fiend for the first month, and stayed in a nicotine infused haze most of that time :)
Dropped off to 12mg and maintained my vaping like mad, and didn't have any issues after that. Down to 6mg nic now, and that transition was functionally painless :D

That is a Great lil Set up to start with...I think It might be your head in the Tank that needs a cleaning/change, for those rough Hits. As to you Nic Level, 12 is a nice place to start but a bottle of 18 could not hurt, and you will feel a difference.

Welcome to a new world of "what Flavor Do I want to try..." and I Love the Look of that New thing I must have it!....and do not for get "is the Mail Here YET!!!" Though you seem to have a Decent B&M near you so do help them As much as Possible.

If 7.5 watts is comfortable then I'd stay with that. :thumb: Sounds like you may getting some dry hits - when the wick isn't keeping up with you and hasn't soaked up enough ejuice. Or its only partially wet enough. If you vape taking draws quite quickly after each other this can happen sometimes.

Also - drink lots of water. Vaping dehydrates you more than normal.

I smoked maybe a half pack a day although I dipped quite a bit due to work rules. I started off at 24mg even though the girl didn't recommend it and I haven't had any urges to smoke nor dip but that could just be my mindset. I couldn't stand the way I spelt or having dip constantly stuck in my teeth so when I vape these aren't problems anymore.

Unfortunately, you will never get the effects or buzz like a traditional cigarette from e-cigs. With e-cigs you are only getting one active ingredient (nicotine). With traditional cigs there is something like 4000 other things your inhaling besides nic. So your body has to get use to the new way its getting nicotine and not having those other 4000 ingredients your addicted to. It took a good 3 days of only vaping before I lost the craving for analogs. Then about 2 weeks into e-cigs I really wanted a cigarette, so I lit one up and started coughing. I thought to myself, Yuk how did I ever smoke these things. I was like licking an ashtray. I never had another urge after that.

If 12mg is working for you then keep at it. I was a pack a day (Reds) and I personally started at 24mg. I remember that first week I was sucking on my ego twist like it was oxygen. It was always in my hand. I didn't care how much I used my e-cig, as long as I wasn't smoking. Its been about a year now and I just moved down to 18mg about a month ago. I'm not in a hurry to quit vaping anyway.

My first bottle was 24mg, then I got 18mg. I noticed that I was a fiend and getting the real Nicotine buzz, so I backed down on how many tokes I was doing and for how long. When I visited my first B&M and told I could sample the juices, I was blown away. I was stuck on tobacco flavor for some reason, as all the other wild mixtures made me cringe. Cinnamon Buns... I'm inhaling a Cinnamon Bun! LOL

I chose Halo Tribeca for it's custard like taste and next bottle was Space Jam Eclipse; all at 12mg. I went through "vaper's tongue", where the flavors die, not a burnt taste, just no taste. When that happened, teeth brushing and 500ml of water, and waiting 30 minutes before vaping again. Only issue still, cravings. While you may want the higher MG of nicotine content, don't. While I'm in my 60s on days off cigarettes, I drip to kill the cravings and get the sensation of them old days, and then the nic rush happens... I'm at 6mg when I drip, and my set up is dual coil at .8 ohms...

When at home, chilling or doing nothing, drip. I can say at those times, you want a smoke. Drip and vape, and enjoy the flavor you bought and the vapor cloud... You'll drop the nic levels. I have and I'm, all right with things...

Erm... if you drink the amount of whisky that you need to drink in water you may not be able to tell if it works...

Alcohol dehydrates you too. ;) But it will wet your mouth.

I was teasing of course. :) It is true that I have started to drink a LOT of water since starting this experiment. It seems to be worse in the evening when I am enjoying my whiskey. I may need to change to whiskey-water which would be another move in the right direction.

Oh ya. I'm not much of a whiskey drinker but I do like the occasional JB.

Having more than 1 strength, especially in separate tanks is very usefull.
I buy 24mg and add glycerin, so my mix is somewhere between 6 and 12; not precise.

2:
I think the really hard hit you mentioned is a dry hit from the wick going dry at 7.5 watts chain vaping on stock silica wicked protank single coil.

Hold the mouthpiece up to your ear occasionally and fire the power and listen to the coil; after a while you get used to the sound of the atomizer and can tell if your coil is too wet or too dry.

rewicking with cotton has been one of the best things I ever did:
this procedure

forgot to mention:
24mg in a 100/0 PG/VG mix hit a whole lot harder than 24mg in a 20/80 PG/VG blend, so don't just look at the milligram strength of the nicotine; you also have to look at the PG/VG ratio.

There are many, many places for juice purchases. Check out general-e-liquid-discussion forum here on ECF.

I was a pack a day smoker and started at 18mg. I'm down to 6mg, after about a year. I do tend to treat my rig like a pacifier. I chain vape often (normally 4-6ml per day, sometimes about 6 - 8 ml per day).

100% agree with all of this. Cigarettes will always give you a different buzz than an e-cig. You can catch a real nice nicotine buzz (or sometimes an uncomfortable one).

I stated with pretty much the same set up as you and felt the same way about the buzz but just kept with it and chain vaped at 12mg till i was feeling it. Might be worth it to try 18 or 24 while you first start vaping if you are really trying to kick the cigarette habit because it will be easier for you to get that head buzz. But, if you are okay with 12 I would not go up... I started at 12 and have been going down since I've increased my vaping and it has become more of a hobby to me than a habit like smoking cigarettes. I can still get a real nice head buzz from 6mg when using a good set up
