Huh, and now I turned it back down to 3.8V and it seems to taste better *scratches head* well this is fun in a weird and slightly confounding way. Lol.

Sounds like everyone forgot to mention that these coils sometime need a little breaking in period before the work well.

vaping is a mystical art form. You can understand all of the science behind it but sometimes it just takes a little magic for everything to come together.

Ok so day 2, it's getting better! Might have to get one more of these. I have two flavors I vape a lot so I think two of these mini's will be good for those. Does anyone have theirs in one of those metal sleeves to protect the glass? Wondering if it is worth it to get some. I have broke a Protank before so I'm considering it.

I think the metal sleeve is only available for the full sized nauti, but could be wrong. Haven't paid much attention to them since I went RBA. The smaller AFC holes will give yo more flavor and conserve juice, but the bigger ones will give you better clouds. Make sure you keep your tank clean. You will find a small amount of juice in the AFC chamber under the coil once in a while no matter what. Vapor will condense in the draw tube and settle down there. Every few tanks or so, pull the coil out and give the base a proper washing or this condensation will turn to a nasty sludge. As the coils age, you will likely find yourself messing with the settings again since the coils start to wear a lil long before they are goners. You can prolong their life by gently, and I stress GENTLY cleaning the metal screen on the top of the coil. It will gunk up and hurt flavor production. I used a clean, dry paper towel to blot the screen. If you ever accidentally damage the screen or it sticks t the towel and comes out, the coil is a goner for sure. Some folks say you can soak the coils to clean them, but I never had any luck with it. But you have a solid piece of gear to vape on. :thumb:

I have one of the metal sleeves (I had broken the glass on one of my Minis). They're nice, although the problem with it is that it makes it really difficult to see the remaining juice level unless you are vaping a colored juice. The metal sleeve replacement tank for the Nautilus Mini has a pretty cool looking snowflake pattern.

Out of curiosity how long do your coils last (anyone)? I know it depends on a lot of factors, but just curious. I don't vape darker juices and I would say I am a light to medium user of my PV most everyday. I did notice a little more flavor when I used the second smallest hole but didn't care for having to draw as hard. But I think in the third hole it still has decent flavor. Definitely has gotten better since starting it yesterday so I think I have some settings I like. The real test will be when I get my new flavor in the mail. I ordered the Gambino from Mountain Oak. I loooooooooooooove banana cream pie type flavors, so once I get that I do believe I shall get a second mini and hopefully have a blissful banana custardy experience.

Yep I am experiencing that today. It is MUCH better now :)

Coil life will vary by user. I can get a couple of tankfuls before I at least soak them in some vodka overnight. I might be able to do that a couple of times before I feel that the coil is "done".

Some people are rebuilding their coils. I tried it once, and didn't have a great deal of success.

Yup, you definitely want to let the coils break in a bit. Start your voltage lower than where you really want to land (like around 3.8V or even a touch lower.) Then after a couple hits, nudge your voltage up a bit. Repeat until you get to where you want to vape "normally".

Glad it's working out better. Remember, everything "snug", but not over-tight. When your juice is getting low, and you're ready to refill, you might have a vacuum issue where it's difficult to loosen the base. If that happens, cover the airhole and blow INTO the mouthpiece to release the vacuum.

Some people prefer a higher voltage in the morning and a lower voltage at night. Also, your eliquid will taste better once the atomizer is broken in.

If you're using the coil that came with the new tank it might be the 'old' style BVC coil with the smaller wicking holes. They were prone to leaking, tough to get flavor from, and didn't last very long because the tiny holes would get gunked up even with clear liquids.
Try a new (authentic) coil with the larger holes and you'll likely have a pleasant surprise. :)

FWIW, a 50/50 mix with a clear fruit or mint/menthol flavoring gives me a coil life of about 3 weeks.

Well, I seem to be the oddball of these forums, but I usually vape a clear 60VG/40PG mix through my Nautilus at 15W, and I normally get right about a month worth of use from a single coil vaping 5ml per day.

Of course that's all gone out the window this past month. I've switched to a temperature control mod and nickel coils in my Nautilus. Been using the same coil for 3 weeks now and it's still working like new.

Well now I went and got all curious and wanted to experiment more. So I cleaned out the tank, went and got one of the replacement coils I bought at a local vape shop, went and dug out my trusty ol banana cream pie 50/50 e-juice (which I am hoping to replace with the Gambino from Mountain Oak if it is equally as tasty) and started all over. Ha! I kept the coil from the first experiment since it is not gone bad. Should I run it under hot water and let it air dry, not really sure how to preserve it best for the next use? The strawberry brûlée I was vaping with it was a 70/30 VG/pg mix. Maybe I am just hooked on the banana cream pie...but um....amazazing! I'm trying to get away from the higher PG because I think I'm a bit sensitive to it. But until the Gambino gets here this stuff is staying in my tank!!!!! I taste like 10 times the flavor after the switch and I haven't even started messing with air flow and volts and all that. The slightly higher PG may be part of this, but perhaps the replacement coils are the newer version everyone is raving about. They are also the 1.6ohms not the 1.8 which is what the last one was. I was starting to get a little disappointed with that last flavor I started all this with because it seemed like it wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting. It was making me think that new strawberry brûlée was just not all that great. But think I will try it next with the new replacement coils. Now I am seeing the light! Lol. To be continued...

When I was using the Nautilus Mini exclusively, I would get around 2 weeks on the coil. And this was putting 2 tanks a day on the coil.

yeah - MOV's Gambino is rocking - actually got my hands on a tester of that when they were working on the recipe and it is awesome - as soon as it hit the shelves I had to stock up - helps that they are based out of the town I live in and a friend of mine runs the shop, lol - good stuff! Their 'Way of the Dragon' line is pretty dang tasty too - great bunch of folks at MOV!

I think my experience with the Strawberry Brûlée from MOV was disappointing because of the coil that came with the mini. The replacement coils I bought are WAY better. I also got the vanilla dream in 0nic for the evenings. It's a nice subtle vanilla. I may just skip dinner and chain vape, this is darn tasty. Lol.
