I always use any unprotected IMR flat top battery. Sony and Panasonic are both good. The VTC5 is an excellent choice, as is the AW or the Efest. I've got a button top Efest IMR that is actually too long to use in the VTR, hence the reason I say stay with the flat top. Since your VTR is providing the overcurrent/overdischarge protection, there is no need to use a protected battery which adds to the length.

I have a VTR and use Panasonic NCR18650PF (Li-ion) flat top batteries, last quite a while, they are 2900mAh. I have no complaints with them.

The only batteries that wont fit are the nipple top ones.

The amp rating does not really matter, the chip I hear is limited to 5Amp anyway, so as long as your selected battery can handle that discharge then there should be no worries.

For a VTR you don't need a VTC3, VTC4, VTC5 or a Samsung 25R. You can easily stay within the confines of 10 amps and be ok it's not going to sub ohm or do anything crazy.
I'd go for a 10 amp battery with a high MaH rating for longevity, the Panasonic NCR18650PF mentioned above would work fine, eFest is ok too but remember 3100mah my foot it's a 2500mah LG with an eFest wrapper.

Hmmm.. the '35amp' efest 2500mah is the LG, but this 3100mah is different..

I really like the Panasonic NCR18650PF. It last me all day and I vape most of the day and also my VTR battery indicator light never goes past the green level now for vaping all day long at work and home.
Thanks everyone. I think I will look into the purple efest as a back up battery.

I was surprised how much longer the purple efest 18650 3100 mah lasts than the Panasonic.
