So I got it in the mail yesterday, my long awaited AGA-T2, which is beautiful and looks fabulous on my Sigelei 24 mech, and this morning sat down with it to bestow a wick and coil upon it. At first it went stupid on me and would not register ohms for me, it was shorting somewhere. I was using a wick I made from 400 SS, just the way PBursado showed me on YouTube, and 32 gauge kanthal, since my 28 gauge has not arrived yet. I thought to wind it 5/4 and see how that did.

Well the next thing it did was give me 6.4 ohms resistance. Not workable, so I went down the road to Vape King in Bonita Beach, and talked to Ben, the store manager, who is a great guy, a scholar and a gentleman of the highest order. he showed me what I was doing wrong, how to do it right, and told me to come show him when I got it working.

I brought it home, did it the way he showed me, and wowie zowie, it worked! I had it going at 1.08 ohms and producing vapor. Not as much vapor as I had hoped, but it was working. Excited by this I rushed back to Vape King to show him and everyone else that I'd actually gotten an RBA working my first day with it, which I'm given to understand does not happen very often or for most people.

When I got there who should I meet but Joseph, the store manager of Royal Vapors, in downtown Naples. Seems he and Ben are buds and help each other in the business. Joseph and the gang at Vape King looked at my coil, said it looked pretty good, but that I really should be using 64 ribbon wire, so I bought some right then, and Joseph, bless his heart, showed me how to coil it right there on the counter.

When the hot spots were worked out and the coil was glowing uniformly I vaped on it, and WOW! That's vaping!... but...
Turns out I'm not using the right batteries. I have the green one, an 18650 3400 MaH, which does not push the amps an RBA needs. Gosh. So I also bought the battery I needed. Joseph put one of his fully charged ones in my mech and let me try that. Double WOW! It was running at .8 ohms, putting me in the sub-ohm club, for which I want the wallet ID card.

So, bottom line kids, if you are going the RBA route you are getting into an even more costly level of vaping. Be ready to buy a whole new set of batteries, and other goods to support your RBA, including a LOT more juice. If you are going to vape with the big dogs then pony up the bucks or stay on the porch.

Man o man that thing sucks down juice! It's like trading in your VW for a 427 Vette! You will NOT get the same mileage, trust me on this.

You got vapemail and waited a whole day to play with it!? For shame sir..For shame... =D

For a B&M to upsell a newish user into sub-ohm gear is a bit irresponsible in my mind as it could lead to damage of the mod or user fairly easily. Unless that user is already educated, but since you are still new to coil wrapping and such it's safe to say you're not a asian sub-ohm cloud king yet. I sincerely hope he made sure you have a working multimeter and educated you about the power and responsibility of your setup.

Like... DOOOOOD... i am not a sir. Why do I have to keep telling people that on here?

I do have the means to check my ohms, which you would know if you read my post. Also, Vape King did not upsell me to this RBA i did that all on my own, they just helped me get it running right and showed me the finer points. I'd already done a LOT of homework on it.

Nope,

You definitely don`t look like a sir to me :D And congrats on building your first coil. All i use these days is the ribbon wire, awesome stuff.

Thank you very much :D

I've also learned that there are limits to what you can learn online and via YouTube. I'd not seen anything about the batteries needed for an RBA anywhere, and the ribbon wire is something I wish I'd known about before I ordered 100 ft of 28 ga kanthal. Oh well, I can use that for making micro coils for my Kanger tank.

Thught maybe that pic was your girlfriend heh guess I was wrong.

For shame lady..for shame! lol Just Kidding. I know he didn't upsell you into the RBA, but the battery and the sub-ohm coil he did-ish. By reading your post I know you were trying to get a SLR coil without knowing the proper facts about Amp draw and battery ratings, which means there is still some homework to be done. :)

Not trying to argue or be a douche or anything. I was merely hoping he properly edumacated you about the stuff you're using.

Oh hey, I'm getting there fast and doing my homework as I do so. It's been a learning experience all along and one I'm happy to take on. No harm has resulted thus far, and I now have a fabulous vaping rig as well as friends and contacts in the industry. It's all good so far.

You are welcome,

Best just to ask on here for any uncertainties.

Yep sounds like you're well on the road to awesomeness =D Now you just need to get employed at the vape shop so you have lots of juices and gadgets to play with all the time and can help other vapers learn.

Oh yes, that's what I'm really after, a job in a vape shop! Wowie, that would be the best! I can't stop vaping on this RBA, my Protank is over there in the block having abandonment issues. The vape on this AGA-T2 is so awesome!

I'm very much wanting to work in the vapor industry somewhere, and I'm doing all I can to bring that about.
