Got the k1000 mechanical epipe, and want to use a kayfun clone. What do I need to know?

Hey guys! Newish vaper here, and I'd love some advice!
What I currently have:
The k1000 e-pipe
Efest 18350 IMR high drain batteries
Kanger Aerotank

I like the aerotank, but I'm super interested in getting into some of the rebuildables.

Specifically, I was told that kayfun clones would be my best bet, due to epipes being used sideways and kayfuns being pretty leak-proof.

So my first question: Is this correct? Is there a type of RBA that would be better than a kayfun to use with a mechanical 18350-using mechanical e-pipe mod?

Second question: If I get the kayfun, can someone point me towards what would be the best battery / coil wire combination? I'm pretty clueless about how resistance works in my specific setup, so any guidance would be much appreciated! Is there a better battery I should use? Do I need a protected battery? What wire should I buy to make my coils?

Cheers!

I did a quick search on the k1000... looks like it comes with a tank that is made specifically for the pipe... dont think it can be used with other tanks... I could be quite wrong on this aspect...

also looks like the coil is a silica wick bottom placement design too... probably would be easier to buy premade wicl/coils for it then to make your own this early in.. if you do decide to wrap your own coils I would suggest 30 ga. Kanthal and either cotton or 2mm silica wick

definately will require 18350 batteries, try to find the IMR non protected variety

If you build your own coils, or if you do not trust the QA people who check ones you buy, you MUST check the resistance of the coil. Before you do ANYTHING with a sub Ohm coil you will need to know how many amps your battery can produce and you need it use an Ohm's law calculator to be sure you will not ask more of your battery than it can provide. This is a safety thing.

you can use just about any tank on the k1000..
If you want to use mini protanks or T3s's or whatever you like..
you can get the 510 with ego thread adapter that will fit right in there for those..

i use all kinds of tanks on mine with no leak problems.
it's not the best mod in the world but it's nice for sitting on the couch watching tv or at my desk relaxing and lazy vapin..

i would say get good batteries and quite a few of them if you plan on leaving the house for a good amount of time..like say work or something..
the batteries that come with it suck pretty much..
i take 6 with me where ever i go..
it does vape decent with good batteries..
batteries are going to depend on if you want longer battery life or if you want shorter battery life but more burts or heat in your vape..

as far as kayfun..it's always nice to have a kayfun laying around..not sure i would get it just for this pipe..i would get it because it's a kayfun :D
seriously though many tanks will work on this pipe.

Alright so you have a pretty solid epipe, but you happen to need to buy new batteries, I would recommend aw or mnke, and a kayfun would actually chuck some vapor I think, I've used a kayfun on my smoktech pipe mod and it kicks the vapor out very well and .8 ohms. I would get the kayfun clone just to have it around since now that you have a mech mod, you'll want more and a kayfun would definetly benefit any bodies vaping experience immensely.

thats exactly my problem, i am having a eGo to 510 Adapter but the threading on the K1000 battery compartment is smaller then the eGo,

i googled some other adapter and found now one
510 to 901 female threaded
which looks like it could fit, unfort. they dont have written there what metric threading or diameter this really is so still no clue if that one will fit

So your 510 threads will not fit into the ring that goes around the pipe threads?
That small ring in the picture?

I got the kayfun lite clone, the svoemesto for $22 on eBay, AMAZING quality. However, I have mine set up on a vamo v2. I have 30 ga kanthal and both silica and cotton. Silica vs cotton, that's more of a personal preference. I personally don't care either way. I still use my aerotank with my mod too.
