I read last night, in lounge, about people giving grapes to dog. They are a common treat given to dogs and used to be a favorite for most of our dogs. Handlers used to use raisins, too, to "bait" dogs in show ring or as training rewards.

The main issue is that you may never see any signs until the first time ingestion causes symptoms and then you and your dog have serious issues. The toxicity just "comes out of nowhere" even for dogs that have eaten them for years.

I have included a few links for you to check out. For more information please do Google search " dogs grapes."

No problems here. It takes a whole lb of dark chocolate just to get a dane to the sleepy point....
A herseys kies can kill a Chihuahua.
On the other hand, feed a dane anything other than its normal dog food and it will compete with hubby in the fumigation of the room award. So I guess a little goes a long way....

Poisonous Food List for Cats and Dogs
here is a link to a detailed list. some things will surprise you... others won't. I love my labbies and have had some close calls. It's important to know how to induce vomiting in your pet... for dogs a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide will do... also in a pinch you can use 2 tablespoons of salt placed on the back of the tongue. Works like a charm. Our little one ate rat poison, and we had salt crammed down her throat before you could say "GET ME SOME salt."
The rat poison was my mother-in-laws. If need be I use a no kill trap... I got no beef with rats if they aren't in my house.

It had to be the day I was talking about enducing vomiting that my dog gets sick. She has painted the floor in my office. Poor little girl, now she's curled up on the couch sleeping. I had noticed she was eating grass outside. out with the bad, and in with the good. oh and then clean up the bad, dad. lol

Thank you Mlinky, I caught her eating some plastic last night. I think this may be the cause of her sickness. she is a plastic fanatic, she doesn't just chew it, she eats it. With half the world around us being plastic its kinda tough to keep it away from her.

Just as long as it passes. What is up with the weird cravings? My cat loves chlorine.
