Hello all! As part of my opening posts as a new member I'd like to introduce myself as well as get some starter information.

I have used some of the first generation joyetech 510 products about 2 years ago. It was a great alternative to smoking as we all know. Since then, I had fallen out of touch with my PV as parts were lost in a move (from an old ex's apartment) which I never recovered.

Just two days ago, I turned 35 years old and made the decision to quit smoking cigarettes! This was also prompted by Illinois' new sin tax on smokes which increased them by $1 per pack. No brainer...I'm done!

For my birthday, I ordered a couple 1000mAh joyetech eGo-T passthrough batteries along with a handful of GotVapes VISION EXTREME MINI 2.5ml 510 Carto 2.4-2.6ohm. I still use Flue Cured Tobacco juice from nHaler because I love the flavor.

I would like to get some input from other users and veterans on how this setup compared to others and if there are better ways to enjoy vaping! I plan to never go back to analog cigarettes again for health and aesthetic reasons and want to truly maximize my enjoyment of vaporizing.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

Hello. I recommend an Ego Twist with a Vivi Nova tank on it. You can rebuild the coil and rewick them very easily and with DIY juice your cost to vape will be somewhere around 15 cents a day, and you'll be doing so on a variable voltage vapor stick. An adapter can help streamline the look of the Vivi Nova if looks are an issue with you. It's cool that you got a passthrough battery but it still vapes at the 3.6v range does it not? You can get a 5v USB passthrough for as little as ten bucks. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with what you got but here is my suggestion for stage 2 vaping. If you want to go to stage 3 then you can always get a lavatube but you're looking at some serious money and it can only do slightly better than the Ego Twist. Try to get away from tobacco flavors, that's why you quit in the first place right? Try fruits and sweets, you can almost never go wrong.

In Ohio when I first started smoking cigs were 2 bucks a pack. They worked their way up to 2.50 range and then they went to 3 several years ago. Then when the crap hit the fan in 2008 they went up to four and then almost instantly - boom sin tax, 5.65 a pack. I was very angry because in a sense we were being discriminated against. They said it was because of medical costs inflicted on the state. Obese people raise health costs too and so do drinkers, tax all of us and split the difference, but they didn't hear us. After all we were a captive audience. Well not any more. I started smoking Marlboro Special Blends which were a buck cheaper but I often wondered why that was. What was in em? Due to the extra cost it wasn't long before a few years later I had blown my life savings continuing to smoke and I was out of work at the time (it wasn't huge but it was a decent nest egg). As I got on, my heart rate started picking up when I was going to bed and I couldn't hardly get to sleep so I decided to quit. After a month of reasearch and getting the money together I quit the first day on my KGO and never looked back. 13 years and I quit on day one. Now I am running every day, my blood pressure came back down to normal, and my heart stopped freaking out on me. Last thing you want is heart problems in your early 30s = wth!?! I'm all better now, and it's only been 4 months. Now I wonder why I ever did that to myself and I am so glad I'm free. I DIY my juice and it costs me around 30 cents a day to vape but in the near future I have a way to half that cost. The money I have saved, well, you can see that in my banner can't you? It's probably more than that because we all know what happens when you drink. :) My vaping has paid for itself twice over and pretty soon I can start getting my savings back in the bank where they belong :)

Anyway, welcome to the ECF.

John, the provari is more expensive than a lavatube which does the same thing, but more importantly, the ego twist does ALMOST the same thing as both of them in a smaller and much cheaper package. 2 of them with a charger ( 1000mah replacement batteries that is - since who needs the atomizers?) costs around 57 bucks compared to $120+ for a lavatube (70 with 2 batteries + charger + shipping - they don't come with batteries), or the provari (200 bucks with battery and charger and that's with the current 40 dollar off sale that's going on right now). Most vapers find that over 5v is reckless on the throat hit, so they use just over 4v-4.5v. The Twist goes up to 4.8 I believe it is. Perfect. Why pay for something you'll never use? The only cool thing about a provari is that it tells you the resistance of your atomizer and you can do that with a 5 dollar multimeter if you know what you're doing (see also: vids on youtube).

Hello Nach from another new member.
I only want to tell you that you have to find your balance between money and quality. You simply cannot compare the build quality of a twist with a lavatube and a provari. My provari has fallen off a high speed car and i just stopped, picked it up and pretty much continued vaping. Just a few scratches. (success story) :p

Also having a lavatube means that you can set it to 6volts it will show like its working properly and you'll be getting 3,7-4,5 on LR stuff. This can't be really helpful when you are trying to find your sweep spot. On the other hand a provari will either work at exactly what it states or put out an error.

Well, you have good batteries and a juice you like. Nothing left but different delivery systems. Some people find the clearos a little finicky (Visions, etc.), so I would say to try some regular cartos- Boge, Smoketech, Kanger at 2.0, 1.7 Ohms.

Alot of people also enjoy dripping on the newer type attys. There are also carto-tanks that hold up to 6ml. which many use and might be good for you since you've found a good juice.

    Thanks folks for the replies.

I wanted to state that for myself, using drip tips is a royal pain for me. I own a taxi business and spend 12-20 hours a day in my car. So NOT having to drip every so often is crucial to me. This is where my old PV failed me and thus easily lost interest due to the extra work involved.

Now that I have these newer batteries and cartomizers, it has allowed me much more freedom to enjoy vaping as opposed to endless maintanence. I will; however, explore moving to stage 2 & 3 when the time comes. For now, I just want to enjoy the benefits of being free from tobacco and its high costs. Thanks for the input, and please keep the advice coming as I am now learning much much more about the vaping community from this forum.

in response to an earlier response, I started with tobacco flavored juices, thinking I wouldn't ever want fruity or weird flavored juices. Well, 8 months later, I'm vaping vanilla cola and raspberry lemonade as my primary vapes. Just stick with it, and try different things. I have to say I spent a LOT of money on all different cartos, tanks, clearos, attys, devices, etc to find what I like. Lately, I've been dripping with atomizers. Yes, its kind of a pain, but the flavor is so much better I don't mind.

To my understanding, lower resistance (Ohms) translates to a bigger TH and/or more vapor, does it not? Also, lower resistance should drain the battery faster?

Thus far, I drained my first battery completely in 1.5 days using my 2.4-2.6Ohm carto. Though I'm not really receiving a noticeable TH. What amount of resistance should I look for if I were to require a noticeable TH? How much battery life should I expect with the change versus what I just witnessed?

    Anyway, welcome to the ECF.

I have to say, WOW! I enjoyed your story here. I think that for myself, I truly enjoy the "act" of smoking. From the hand-to-mouth, to in the inhalation and following through to the exhalation. The odor, taste and cost have ALWAYS been unattractive to me since the very beginning. I grew up as a child with parents who smoked, so it seems that since birth, I was programmed (and destined) to do so. That being said, I've finally drummed up the gumption to put down the analog cigs for good.

I have yet to experience major respiratory problems due to analog cigs, other than a slight tightness in the chest after maybe chain smoking a few at times. Also, never really held in a drag for too long, just inhaled followed by an exhale after maybe 1-2 seconds. I've always had a very large lung capacity, most likely due to being very athletic in my younger years. But lets face it, I haven't gotten any younger! :) I will say; however, that in the 2nd day of vaping now, I notice much clearer breathing and am already noticing that I'm getting my taste back as well as my sense of smell becoming more acute.

As for the money saved...I'd love to get one of those banners going for me as a cumulative reminder of what the big picture really is over time.

Thanks ShogaNinja, for the warm welcome!

With my current gear, I've found that efficacy is fine, though it just seems to lack in TH. But that doesn't bother me, its just strange as I expect that sensation. I've also found that 2.5ml (even though I haven't filled it all the way) seems to last me all day. I'm not sure that I'm ready to move to a VV yet, just because I haven't been vaping long enough to really know the difference and cost (at this point) is my secondary concern (behind efficacy).

With more experience and help from this wealth of information at ECF, I'll eventually move onto the next stages and perhaps a DIY liquid. But, I have to crawl before I can walk, right?

Nach to get a banner just click on one you like and it will take you to a page where you can get an embed code. Put that code in your signature of your ECF profile settings and you're done. It will ask you when you quit, how much you smoked a day, and how much it costs a pack to determine your personal savings.

Obviously financial reasons partially motivated you to quit since you mentioned the sin tax, but are you looking for the cheapest/low-cost route or are you willing to step into larger investments to "truly maximize" your enjoyment?

I will be willing to move up to a larger investment when I feel the time is right and/or needed from the gear I'm currently using. But, so far what I have has been very effective. Please tell me your recommendations for my next step/stage!
