Yes as the title says I am a Noob... post cracks and let the E liquid flow out of them LoL.

I have gotten my start like most from the E-cigs that turned out to be crap. *Head hangs in shame*

With luck a friend turned me into bigger batteries and atomizers *All claps in glee*

But sadly because of lack of experience in knowing much about the differences and uses of them quickly got back in regular cigarettes and the battery went long way to storage... long since forgotten... *Moment of silence, since it did not work when found after a few months*

I got a boot camp lesson in what true vaping is and got a nice taste of it from great friends very recently and found that there is a whole community that can better help me QUIT tobacco and enjoy the great splendors of what I actually came to enjoy...

If in some of my next posts or a great deal of them I use the wrong terms please do not shoot me... I am still learning and wanting to experiance all that I can...

One question I do have

What is with the hype in the news about vaping actually being more harmful then cigs when all actual research proves otherwise?

Hello and welcome.:toast: The hype? Tobacco companies, state and federal governments, and pharmaceutical companies each make billions of dollars yearly from tobacco sales. The system is corrupt, they want to keep the money coming in, even if they have to force people to die smoking or brainwash the public with lies to make them think ecigs are just as bad.

Welcome Tera! This is a great place to learn everything about vaping! I am pretty new to this also, but I researched here before I started. This site has saved me a LOT of money.
To answer your question here is a vid a lot of us are sharing with others...I firmly believe this video tells the truth as to why...

No need for shame, we've all been there. Besides, lessons are better learned from first-hand experience ;)

Anyway, we're glad you found us. Welcome to ECF! :toast:

It's all about politics. Facts don't matter when politicians or money are involved, you know . . .

Greetings Tera Bailey and Welcome to the ECF. They want to regulate and tax Vaping equipment and supplies by bringing them under the tobacco banner and the California ads say it is being marketed to children which is untrue. To my knowledge their are no completed studies on the effects of vaping, my Dr is ok with me vaping over inhaling cigar smoke.....................................Enjoy.............................

Funny part is, there is nic. and VG in actual cigarettes. besides it is burning. not vaporating. My wife is suffering copd so the doc we visited asked her to abandon smoking at all. I told her I abandoned by e-cigs she told me what it is even more dangerous. I asked why? mumbled something. I asked her do you suggest I should quit vaping and begin smoking? she told me it is your choice. If she had been a genuine doctor she should ask me ok lets have your x-ray or mr to see what your lungs like now after 40 years of smoking and 2 years of vaping. No. clishe only it is more dangerous. More dangerous my foot. I could not walk properly within a 100 metres I had been breathless (this is why I begun vaping) Now I am climbing stairs.

Well, there is some good news for you then. The Kanger Subtank is a product that does quite a good job of catering to a wide range of vapers. in my opinion, it is one that can easily be a good substitute for the popular "ego/stardust" combination as well as a more advanced rebuildable setup. It's a tank that can grow with you. The best thing is, its not expensive. I haven't tried the Rebuildable part of it since I got the smallest version, the Nano, to fit a small box battery of mine. It does produce quite a bit of vapor too.

My setup is fairly good... it's a Cloupor Mini with a Kanger Subtank Nano. Since the Cloupor mini doesn't come with a battery, I don't really recommend it for you.. there's a whole learning curve to the batteries that go in them. I would probably start someone off with a battery that does 30 watts and can do a .5 ohm build. That will start you off in the "pre cloudchasing" category. anything more than 30, and you're looking at going up in size. Here's some of the "beginning to cloudchase" boxes.

The Kanger Kbox IMO a good beginning devicer. It's strength is it's basic, offers a spring loaded center pin, easy to use, the cheapest price and best value and sturdy construction. It's downside is it's designed for the larger subtanks, so it's a bit larger, you need your own batteries and charger.

The Istick 30 would be my top recommendation. It's their second generation devices, and they've improved on their best seller, the istick 20. It offers a spring loaded 510, they overhung the connector so it doesn't look mis-matched when you put a 22mm atomizer on it. It also comes with a built in battery, and a USB port to recharge it. The downside, is you'll have to learn the menus, and if you're out of battery juice, you cannot replace the battery.. you have to recharge it.

The Cloupor mini is something that suits me almost perfectly, but it's also something I don't recommend to new folks. It's real small, offers a magnetic cover, can fire sub ohms, solidly built, and reasonable priced. It's downside is also the magnetic cover which slides off with little effort or if dropped, is not wide enough to really use a 22mm atomizer seamlessly, and requires your own batteries and charger. It does, however, have a charge port built in to the bottom so you can recharge your battery without buying a charger.

As far as atomizers, I still recommend the subtank mini. It comes with a rebuildable head, so if you want to practice coils, you can... or... you can use the pre-built coils. You don't HAVE to subohm, since they can use a 1.2 ohm coil. The nano has become my grab and go device.

Now is a good time to get back into vaping. The new products they recently have released are quite refined from a year ago. There has been an "explosion" in ecig chip manufacturing, so you'll find a lot more options in those box mods that are out now.

good luck, and those are just a few of my suggestions. take them for what you will, but get away from those stinkies. :)

Tera,

Conspiracy theory to the max incoming. Think about the traditional tobacco companies losing business to ecigs products... if you cant compete join them because the demand is too high... these big tobacco companies buy out ecig companies... create faulty research studies, crappy products and a less than stellar experience for the consumers... people are disappointed and go back to traditional cigarettes never looking back... catch my drift?

Gotta agree with this:

And, as far as the anti-Vaping hype: Follow the money. Almost all the proposed legislation is geared to keeping folks smoking.

Here in NY, there is proposed legislation to restrict access to eliquid and vaping gear. Y'know.. to keep the kids safe. They can still buy smokes in any corner deli, but at least they won't be able to drop $40 or 50 on a new a mod or tank on way home from school.

California is debating allowing only cig-a-likes. Those are those crappy things that look and feel like a cigarette, don't satisfy the craving, don't deliver flavor, carry warnings twice as long as those on cigarettes and don't save you much money (and include models made by big tobacco). IMHO, they are designed to get the user to look at it and say "this thing sucks… it's about as awesome as tofu bacon. I'm going to get myself a pack of smokes."

I agree with you there. At first, I was thinking they may just be mis-informed about what an e-cigarette is all about and try to lump it in with the regular smoking, but the more I see legislation proposals, the more I know it's not true. It's not that they're purposely trying to get people to smoke... It's become more of a money making game for them.

Interesting....

This backs up what I just said a second ago. For years, we've been asking the FDA to do research on ecigs.... and they have done one... but only researched the cigalikes in depth... that was done... I believe... five years ago? The funny thing is.. we're still asking them to do research on the ecigs.. I would love them to test a setup like a kanger subtank or a kayfun. I would love for them to test the ejuices made by some of the major ejuice manufacturers out there. The vaping industry has gone a LONG way in five years. You couldn't use devices made back then now... We've changed standards. Glass tanks instead of plastic to prevent leaking, sealed and spring loaded connections, We're more focused in the materials that the ecig is made of, We make sure certain parts aren't painted, we look for ingredients that can be dangerous... We even implemented an 18+ only policy... all without regulations.

I'd say most of the vapers out there switched because it is a healthier alternative... We've become more health conscious. We're vaping not to switch to battery operated cigarettes, be cool, or just change the looks...we're vaping because it's healthier. The government HASN'T taxed alternatives that are unhealthy, and to be honest, I don't think they should. My government is supposed to be free. I am an adult, and I am able to make a concious decision about risks involved in my life. The government obviously doesn't think I am able to. Besides that, they haven't even proven my device causes cancer or causes any harm to me or anyone else... BUT, they're quick to tax it. I don't mind paying some tax... I drive, so taxes on cars and gas is understandable. I like to eat a good meal, so tax on luxury food is understandable, I like to own my own property, so a property tax is understandable... When I wanted to smoke, I payed that tax... BUT... When I wanted to stop smoking, they are taxing the thing I use to stop.... their reasoning behind where the money is going to.. .it's for ads to stop smoking.

Well, I guess this has become a rant... sorry.. I just noticed it... I get a little heated about the whole subject sometimes.
