Greetings, everyone.

I've been a lurker for a couple of months, got my first PV a year ago. I was really happy with it, but i've got a serious problem now, which I need help with.

That said, I've been only smoking analogs for 3 years, I can't quit it completely, though.
When I got my first device, I quit for a month or two, then I got ill and somehow I went back to analogs... don't know why. My first PV was an eGo 900mah (not adjustable) battery with the old (but quite good) Helix V2 (with unchangeable coils, some call it Stardust, etc...) and I had two 15ml bottles of liquid (both 11mg Nic, one was USA Mix tobacco, the other was Vanilla, both Hangsen). With this combination of equipment I could quit for 1-2 months. Then I started changing gear and went back to analogs for some reason... I just wanted to upgrade to be honest.

Now I have an eGo-V3 (VV, 650mAh) and a nautilus mini going on it. I like them but that just won't get me off analogs. Also, I buy 100mls of liquid monthly (enough for a month) since in our country the small bottles are expensive, and Nic is banned. (I order liquid from abroad, that's allowed).

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings @FractalXX :)

Everyone around the forum has used one kind of device or another. Many might say "you need different gear", but I'm not going there because everyone's wants or needs are different. Others might say "you need higher nic"; still others will say "try WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid) - which may or may not be available for you in your country.

Some are able to quit completely from their first vape. Others take time. IMO, it's all about habits. What's triggering you to want to smoke a cigarette? My deal - I would get in my car and the first thing I'd want to do was to light up. I would finish a meal - wanna go light up. Watching TV - wanna light up.

I was a dual-user for about a month and then realized I had spent a fair amount of money on juices and equipment that I could no longer justify spending money on actual cigarettes. Yes, vaping is a little more difficult - I have to get coils and a clean tank and a charged battery, etc. But, it just tasted so much better to me. So, all the situations above, instead of pulling out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, I'd just grab my vape.

I think if you really sit back and look at your "triggers", you might see where you can alter your behavior. You've obviously cut back, so that's a good thing. Maybe you do need higher nic to curb the cravings because you aren't feeling "satisfied" with the vape. You have to look at *YOUR* situation because we are all different!

Good luck!

howdy - and welcome!

i know for myself, i started with a nautilus mini, ego twist setup - good kit, but the airflow was a bit too tight on it for me, even wide open - i ended up getting an aspire platinum kit (atlantis tank, aspire cf battery) using .5 ohm coils and have not looked back since - that is what helped me make the switch... the increased airflow/ vapor production worked for me - and thank goodness someone let me know to reduce the nic level with a subohm coil, as you tend to get more bang for your buck nic-wise, with a sub ohm coil... what i have recommended to friends who have successfully made the switch - innokin disrupter mod and kanger subtank mini - subtank comes with a variety of coil options (don't have to go sub ohm on it, can easily use a the 1.5 ohm, 1.2 ohm coils, get good airflow and good vapor production) and is a durable, reliable little tank

mind you, i am not necessarily saying run out and get new stuff - but you have to find what works for you :)

Fact is, that my habits haven't changed since when I quit for one month.
My habits are also quite ordinary: light after meal; in the morning; sometimes before sleep; when i'm really bored; after classes (I'm at college now). I also had anxiety problems in the last few years, I feel like it's starting to vanish now so it may become easier to change to vaping as soon as I can get the ideal gear.
Many thanks! :)

I know about WTAs, too, but I couldn't really find any in my country.

Actually, I liked the airflow, but for some reason it changed with every coil. Now it's quite tight though...
I'd really like to try out box mods (maybe starting with the eLeaf but some say it's not good), but a high capacity battery with adjustable voltage (I never went above 12-15 watts actually) may do the work.

Here's a link for your perusal, if you're wanting to consider upgrading your hardware :)

Thanks, I will take a look at it when I have time. :)

Welcome to ECF!

I think (well, you asked! ) you're doing fine. Switching can be a process. Some take more time at dual use, some (few) manage it more like flipping a light switch. That you're in the former isn't a problem.

Just keep at it, make it less convenient to smoke than to vape. (Put the cigs away somewhere, not in your pocket. Only allow yourself to smoke outside, rain or shine. Things like that.)

Higher nic may help, it's what did the trick for me. Specific level is hard to say, we're all different. But that MAY also be part of the mentioned anxiety.

That you've cut back on the cigs is a positive step, so don't beat yourself up that you're still dual use. You're already doing less harm :)

I just thought it should be easier for me since I've been only smoking for 3 years. What I think about it is that cause I didn't smoke for a long time, I can't really feel the negative part of smoking. Am I right?

That could be part of it, Fractal. I know that just over a week into being an ex-smoker my morning chest rattle went away, and that was pretty convincing to me. (45+ years smoking... and tried all but the meds to quit, with no luck.)

But when you find the right nic level and flavors for you, and make it more convenient to vape than to smoke, AND remain determined to make the switch, I think you'll do fine :)

I'm one of those who will go ahead and suggest you try a higher nicotine level. I started out at 36 mg and now I'm down to 6. You mentioned that some people say negative things about Eleaf. I assume you're talking about the iStick. There is no product in the world that some people won't criticize. I understand their imperfections, but I have 3 of them and they've proven to be highly satisfactory and reliable. YMMV.

When I had this first inhale (lets say second for first would kill me I think I took 18mg/ml directly to my lung) I thought if there was this why one should smoke? Now dont underestimate my cigarettes habit. 40 odd years on rolling cigarettes But still it was obvious why should one smoke when there is this e-cigarette. It was nearly 3 years before and the device I tried was a poor clone of a clone red kiwi.
The trick was I think I had found the right liquid. It was something written parliament and joytech. I strongly think it was fake because no company would use the brand names boldly. Still it was right for me. After that I found original liquids and went on.
The PG/VG rate is important and the nic rate is also important you should find your liquid and when you found it you will be through.
Go ahead it is not important how many cigarettes you smoked. What counts is, the ones you did not smoke.

Yes, I was talking about the iSticks. I'm already considering buying one anyway, since my eGo-V2 is aging quite fast (650mAh... meh).

I always have problem with liquids. 1 year and couldn't find the right. The Hangsen USA mix (50/50, 11mg) was the one I liked the most, but I didn't feel like it was the most ideal for me sadly. Tried a bunch since, other brands, flavors, higher, lower nic, still couldn't find the right one. I hope the search will end some day.

I'll hit 3 years as an ex-smoker on sunday, and don't have an ADV. And, actually, don't want one.

I like being able to switch off flavors, have numerous mods and toppers ready at all times, with several different flavors. For me, that's one of the (many!) nice things about vaping, I don't have to have the same flavor all the time.

Now then, you need to change the device. When you have a mod you can change volts/wats and with a tank you can change ohm of the coil. These are important taste changers too.
