On the road
Hello. Just a brief new member "intro" post. I am an American trucker who, for the past year or so, has been working on getting healthier and in better shape. My first goal was to lose weight and get more exercise. I've now dropped 60 pounds and get in at least five miles of walking/jogging every day. Step two is to quit smoking cigarettes. I have started vaping and am currently down from a three pack a day smoking habit to about two packs a week. I am hoping to be completely off cigarettes in the very near future. I'm currently using two mods, an MVP and a K-Max, with iClear 30 cartomizers. For the most part I use a tobacco flavor blend from Simply Vapes, but have recently been trying out some other flavors including watermelon (love it), vanilla (pretty good), cherry, and pina colada. Now if they would just come out with pizza and fried chicken flavors I would be in heaven :D. I apologize for the lack of paragraph breaks, I am typing this on my tablet and the enter key doesn't seem to be creating a line break for me.

Someone does a bacon one also. Congratulations on the weight loss and the cutting down on smoking. Sitting in a drivers seat all day puts the weight on. I drive locally for a company. Vaping is helping me to take some weight off. Keep fighting the good fight.

Thanks. The weight just kind of crept on my me over the years. The wake up call for me was being put on a 90 day medical card due to high blood pressure. I didn't want to take pills so losing weight and getting cardio exercise was the best option. I do flatbed type hauling (step decks and double drops) so I get plenty of strength exercise. The cardio, along with eating healthier, did the trick and my blood pressure is back to normal again.

Hey GPSTrucker!
Congratz on the 60 lb loss. That's quite inspiring. Keep up the good work.

Haven't seen LongHaul on here in awhile. Maybe he'll say hello if he's around. Anyway, LongHaul & I both use a REO. It's a bottom feeder mechanical. Don't have to take your eye off the road all day with a REO.

Welcome to ECF. We look forward to your checkin' in often.

If I see ya' at the FlyingJ, coffee's on me.

First off congrats on losing the weight. I also went through that stage before quitting analogues and its just the same struggle as quitting smoking :) In my opinion i would actually suggest upping your nicotine intake and quitting all together as it worked for me and a few friends of mine. Its not going to work for everyone but thats just my opinion. Maybe try 36mg which is extremly high but for a 60 a day smoker it should work for you.

Im a new vapor so if anyone feels this advice is wrong please speak up ....Maybe its just because im impatient and i like to get people off the smokes as soon as possible but... :p

Wish you all the success and welcome to the forums :)

Thanks. I'll check out the REO, after all I am relatively new to vaping and am here to learn. I see you're from Florida. I work out of Wisconsin but Florida's gulf coast is home.

Thanks. I'm using 18mg juice, which seems about right to me. For me the cigarettes are more an issue of habit than nicotine at this point. I've smoked them for over 35 years so it's a bit of a hard habit to break. I think I've done very well to go from three packs a day to two packs a week in about ten days. I am confident I'll be totally off of them very soon.

Welcome to ECF! I was an OTR truck driver for 18 years, now I'm in a community college at 45 years old, had enough of the road to last me a lifetime. You will find a wealth of information on this forum to help you kick the habit completely, I know because I have been smoke free for 9 months now. It sounds like you've made great progress in getting healthier. Good luck!

Thanks. I went the opposite route as yourself. I was a telecommunications engineer for over 15 years, and then a high school teacher for two years before going over the road. Been trucking since 1996 and love it.

Congrats on your accomplishments. The fact that you cut back so much on cigarettes is great. Your already winning the battle. I think after a while you start to think that they taste like crap. Hang in there. Vape across the USA. 10-4

Thanks. Actually, since I have been vaping the real thing already tastes like crap to me LOL
