Hello all. I'm a many years 2 pack a day smoker that's been vaping off and on for the past couple years. In the last month I have gotten serious about trying to get off the cigarettes for good.

Still smoking, but have really cut down on it. Still fighting the wake up smoke and after meals and while drinking cigarette. Been lurking and reading for a bit, and decided to post up an intro. Now, back to reading.

That mirrors my story - that wake up smoke was the hardest for me to kick but I'm coming up to 6 years smoke-free - you can do it :)

Welcome. Takes awhile, right? Last few are a bugger but it's nice just being down to those few. The way I kicked them was to give in to the ritual of lighting up and then just a puff or two and then sat there with it while vaping while it burned away in the ashtray.
Then one day I came back inside to wash up and use mouthwash and thought why was I putting myself thru all this? Felt like I needed to shower.

I had a tank just for wake-up vaping. It was a step higher in nic content. I also made time for morning coffee & vaping. Just a relaxing moment.

I also had a tank for tv watching. Since I vaped a bit more, there was a step down in nic content. Usually a dessert flavor for evening relaxing.

Hey, I quit, no pressure, after keeping up with one cig in the morning and one at night for quite awhile. I finally thought, "Why bother?" And I stopped smoking altogether. I smoked 2 packs a day before starting vaping. Took me about 9 months to completely quit. That was 5 or 6 years ago.

Hi @lonebeagle and welcome to ECF !!! :)

Like @Maytwin and @Frenchfry1942 said maybe give higher nicotine juice a try in the mornings and after meals. Mornings were rough for me and vaping higher nic helped a lot. Even after seven years I still have a higher nic vape in the mornings. Just a thought.

    Good luck! :thumb:

Share whatever unsatisfactory piece of filth you're using so we can recommend a ten-time-better RBA and dual-18650 mod. You must have something truly terrible to still feel the morning urge to dual-use.
I started out with a Smok Alien 220 kit, and used it off and on up until this week when the Aegis Legend kit finally came in the mail. Most of the time lately, it's more of lighting up out of habit than anything else I think.

I have some 12mg, but most of my liquids are 6mg. Started with tobacco juices and still vape them regularly, but my tastes are heading more towards sweet, creamy and caramel/coffee. Not much into fruity so far. I should be getting a few new dessert flavors in the mail tomorrow unless USPS drops the ball somehow, which is good since the Legend and Aero tank is a totally different animal than the Baby Beast as far as flavor goes for my own personal tastes.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Welcome to ECF. There's a forum for dual users that you'll find interesting.

Some common suggestions are to switch cigarette brands for the few that you still smoke. There's more in cigarettes than nicotine and what makes a Marlboro a Marlboro vs a Winston is part of the addiction.

Others are to only smoke half a cig at a time and to vape before and after smoking. I suspect more than half of us dual used for a while and the common saying is that it isn't the cigs you smoke, it's the ones you don't. You'll be glad you did this.

When I started vaping, I still smoked 5 cigs a day (down from 1 pack) Took several months to quit completely. Actually still slip once in a while (don't beat yourself up over that... it happens) You have good gear and juice... that's half the battle. Morning cig is the hardest! Keep trying... up your nic or "vape like hell" if you have to (I started with 18mg but just doing MTL) You might like a good RY4 (like tobacco with caramel and vanilla)
