Hi Folks.

1st off, big thanks to everyone for all the helpful info. I've already read a bunch of the stickied n00b threads, as well as reviews, tips, etc. When I first started looking into e-cigs, I was all boggled at the array of choices. To some extent, still am :) but I'm almost ready to take the plunge.

At the moment, my plan is to buy a 510 starter kit, plus 1 atty / batty and some blank carts from Cignot. Or, I might go with the PCC kit. I know, some people have issues with batty life on the 510, but I suspect that since I'm a light smoker, I won't find that to be an issue. I figure I can keep 1 batty on the charger, 1 in use, and 1 spare and be GTG. Don't like the config of the 510 PCC, but I'm intrigued at the challenge of taking it apart and fitting the innards into some other case. And if batty life becomes an issue, I can always use a bigger one.

In re. the 510 PCC, I'd rather use some sort of clamshell style case. One of the n00b threads had a link to someplace like Case4Vape, but I might see whether something like an Otter Box would work.

1 area where I haven't quite grokked what I need to do is figure how much juice, and what kind, to put in my initial order. Not a big thing, since I can always order more, but I'd just rather get about a month's worth of supplies right off the bat. And the numbers in re. how many "puffs" per cart, puffs per drop?, equivalent packs per cart, ad ventum, are just wafting around my head without coming together. Which of course makes sense since there's no 1 answer that works.

I'm picky about flavor. I won't toss out a bunch of personal history; suffice it to say that I have abundant history with tobacco. I currently smoke American Spirit Ultra Lights (govt. warning -- We're not allowed to make any claims about "lightness" or low-tar or anything like that now, so we'll repackage them in orange boxes to make sure nobody confuses them with the old ultra-light packaging, even though it's the same product :p ). Way back, I smoked State Express 555 Internationals. IOW, I'm not after the taste of cigarettes, per se, but the flavor of tobacco (not to be found, IMHO, in Marlboros or Camels). Anyone familiar the brand names Rattray's or McClelland will know what mean, which is Virginia. I smoke less than a pack a day.

I've already been looking into juice reviews here, and I'll keep after it, but if anyone wants to toss any recommendations my way, I'd appreciate it. I'm already figuring on the 12mg juice, or maybe getting the 25mg, and cutting it with 0mg stuff. Somebody posted a review about one of the TW tobacco flavors being spicy. If that's spicy as in latakia or perique then I'm up for it. Otherwise, probably not.

FWIW, my intent is to close out my last carton of analogs by tapering off on them, and tapering on to the e-cigs. I'm already quite familiar with both nic overdose and cig withdrawl, and I'm hoping that plan will help alleviate both.

So I've blithered on enough for a 1st post, eh?

TTFN.

Good choice I think on cignot, great service, fast shipping, good products. That being said, I've been smoking on a cignot joye 510 that I got 2 days ago since about 6 pm today for me that was about 3 hours since this post and I have noticed a little bit of degredation, but I dont think I vape it too hard. the PCC works great for me, but 2 batteries will also last me a good time.

I completely support the 510 kits from cignot and I think the pcc is awesome but if your looking seriously into this and DONT want to carry around a pcc I would seriously consider looking into an ego/tornado from janty for the extra battery life just in case.

But if you are a very life smoker you might be able to get away with 2 batts, just remember that they do degrade over time. Im currently using 3 with a pcc and I dont have any issues.. I was a pack a day smoker.

Very Nice introduction Whistle_Pig.... Welcome to ECF:)

Now with that said.....As far as how much Juice to buy so it can last you a month...That's going to be hard to answer....Everyone's needs are different....But from reading your post it seems that you have done a lot of research, so that's a good thing....Here is what i suggest....Since your taste buds are going to be out of whack for a while.....Just buy a bunch of sample bottles....This way you'll figure out what flavor you like and what Nic strength works for you.... And it's a lot cheaper and you don't get stock with the Juice you dislike.....Remember what tastes good to you might not taste so good to others, or vise a verse...But from reading you OP i can see that you have done your homework....So once again Welcome to ECF and Good Luck :)

Thanks for the welcomes.

Just found a thread over in the juice reviews pointing to FreedomSmoke USA. Looks like I can get a Perique and a Latakia from them. I know folks say that vaping is unlike smoking, in re. how the taste experience differs. But I started, years back, on a pipe, and I'm 99% sure I don't want anything other than tobacco flavors. Now if I can find a sampler with just things like flue-cured, Dunhi[a]ll, and such, that will be a good solution (no pun intended, but I did crack myself up) for starters.

In the short-term, I figure the worst that can happen if I find myself without batty power is I buy a pack of analogs. My plan to stretch out my last carton should give me time to gauge whether I need a bigger batty, and then I'll look into a Tornado or similar.

Congrats Whistle_Pig ! Love your name btw.

Thanks, CG. Yeah, I get a kick out of it too.

I've actually been reading the forum all night. Mostly e-juice reviews. Prolly grab some 555 from Cignot, some flavors from Freedom Smoke, and a sampler from ... somewhere ... DIY Flavor Shack I think. Too many suppliers to web-shop them all. But even if the 555 doesn't quite do it for me, dropping in a bit of Latakia and Perique ought to.

Good choices...all are very good suppliers :)

Diyflavorshack has some awesome Redhots..if you like cinnamon...its a strong flavor that you will definately taste even with the dead taste buds that you have if you are newly quit smoking the cigs.

Cignot has great juice, lots to choose from there.

Myfreedomsmokes has alot of different varietys...you might think about double flavors..because of your taste buds being sort of whacked at the moment....and he offers those.

Good luck !
