Hi! I'm fairly new to the vape and ecig world (3 months) and just started looking for a follow-on to my first vape. I found this forum while searching the web for info and am very glad to be here. The wealth of information on the world of vaping here is awesome, and the environment seems very friendly.

I'm a 50-something man that's been addicted to tobacco since I was 14. My wife was a smoker too, until 3 months ago when she went to a conference in another city that required her to stay in a hotel. Since she was concerned about not being able to smoke in the hotel, and also worried about reeking of cigarette smoke among her co-workers, she stopped at a vape store that had recently opened in our neighborhood. She came home with a Kanger evod starter kit and went off to her convention. We had tried the 1st gen ecigs that required cartridges and had the weird little LED on the tip to make it look like a cigarette, but those didn't last long. I figured the "new" ecig would end up in a drawer within a week and be a $50 mistake... I was wrong.

My wife returned home from her convention very excited that she hadn't had a cigarette since buying the evod, and wanted me to give it a try. I was reluctant at first, but within a couple of days I had stopped buying tobacco completely and purchased a 2nd evod starter kit. For the last 3 months we've been happily vaping and have stepped-down from 24mg to 18mg juice without any adverse effects.

The Kanger starter kits come with 2 batteries and atomizers each, so we would usually each have one in use and one charging. A full tank and battery would usually last from morning until dinnertime, then we would both get a fresh ecig and be good until bedtime. The quality of the vapor is adequate, and the reliability and durability are very good. Recetntly I've noticed that the batteries drain more quickly, which is common after a number of cycles on lithium ion batteries. Thus, I'm looking for our next set of vapes (with things tech or mechanical my wife and I tend to get the same equipment for parts and repair commonality... just makes things simpler).

I'm looking for a system with increased battery an juice capacity, more robust vapor output, and excellent durability. I'm still figuring out the different options available on ecigs, but at this point a fairly basic model will work for us. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the forum @Greenfeet. Glad to have you here!:)

I often recommend an iStick 30 watt or Coolfire 4 (both mods) with an Aspire Mini Nautilus or eLeaf GS Air M (both tanks). Videos below.

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Some juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Welcome Greenfeet and congrats on making the switch! The suggestions from the folks above are all good ones. There are so many possibilities with vaping, that it can seem overwhelming. Don't let that hinder you. We've all been right where you are now.

Something else to keep in mind, is that everyone has a setup that suits them best. Whatever works for you is the best solution, regardless of what anyone says. Staying off the stinkies is the goal!

Again, glad you're here. Feel free to ask questions. The only stupid question is the one not asked!

Yes you can.

One thing to note, the Kanger Protank 3 does not have adjustable airflow and the airflow holes are "pin sized" as compared to the Nautilus and eLeaf GS Air M tanks. The draw is much tighter than the ones I mentioned above.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I'm extremely grateful for the advice and assistance offered to a new guy!

I'm off all this week so I've spent much of last night and this morning reading threads and looking at some of the different product reviews. @Susan~S and @suprtrkr, I went to my local stores and checked out the iStick 30 and Nautilus Mini, and they seem perfect for our needs. One of the shops I visited also carried the iSick 40, which is a newer, 40 watt version of the 30.

After visiting the shops I came home and did some online price checking, and I'm amazed at the mark-up that the B&M stores put on ecig merchandise. I'm a "buy local if possible" kind of guy, and I try to support local small businesses when I can. However, the price markup with the B&M stores over the online retailers was over 40% (nearly 50% with tax), so I found an online store with good prices and fast, free delivery and placed my order. Fingers crossed that the order will get here this week, and I'll report back on the vendor (Misthub.com) with results.

@leftyandsparky Misthub price for the iStick 40W is $28.79, and $23.39 for the Nautilus Mini, no tax and free delivery. They're located in Illinois, and they guarantee shipping within 2-3 days if you're looking for a vendor.

Thanks again all!

Cheers!
