Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome.

I've been vaping 70vg/30pg juice with 3mg nicotine for the past month. Sometimes I'd have some throat irritation after vaping for a bit. I'm not sure if it's the PG, the nicotine, or just not being used to direct lung vaping. I've ordered some 80/20 juice to try (0mg to alternate with the 3mg) and also a Nautilus 2 to give mouth-to-lung vaping a shot.

I know 3mg nicotine is too high for me based on how quickly I get a buzz when vaping. Using a MTL tank should decrease the amount of nicotine I get from the 3mg juice right? I don't know if it will be a big difference but it should help until I get some 1.5mg juice.

Welcome aboard! I didn't start vaping to quit or even to reduce smoking. I was in the checkout line at the smoke shop to get another pack as a matter of fact. The line was long and I sometimes ( ) get bored and/or impatient quickly. So I decided to look at some the new-fangled vape stuff they had there. I sorta had an interest in the thing, technology wise, because my neighbor had been vaping for a few months already. A lady at the store gave me a demo and some instruction (stores used to be able to do that..), and so I thought, "What the hay", and ended up buying a starter kit for less than $20. She threw in a free 10ml bottle of eliquid too (they used to be able to do that too..). That night it dawned on me that I hadn't had or wanted a cigarette all day! That was near 3 cigaretteless years ago!

    Congratulations!

I might be wrong, but I don't think that mtl will decrease the amount of nic that you will get, however it will decrease the amount of vapor you will inhale depending on how hard you pull a drag. Both nic and pg can irritate the throat, but 3mg is 3mg whether you dtl or mtl.

Ah okay I must have misunderstood then. I guess they meant less vapor at a time would be less nicotine overall. I also read about people moving up to like 12mg juice for MTL setups which is wild to me lol

I routinely vape 15 mg in a MTL tank, couldn't handle more than 6 in a DL tank, so yes, MTL may help you if you are feeling over-nicotinized, depending on how wildly you vary your vape style with a MTL tank, 3 m.g. may be perfect for you, and/or you may even move up slightly, but it's going to depend on a lot of factors.

I'd consider trying max VG to see if PG is irritating your throat, it did mine, I really couldn't vape any PG at all, I'm sensitive to it. I'd engage in that experiment in a DL sub0hm tank, though, as if you do have PG/VG issues, it's going to change how you approach coil life/flavoring, as the more VG in a small coil, the more it gunks. If it's VG that's the problem, you are probably going to have an easier time with MTL vaping and a higher PG percentage...

If you are ultra-sensitive to nic though, that may be causing your sore throat. Or, it might just be the initial "drying out" phase of vaping, as cigarettes have humectants and other ingredients to help that smoke sliiiidde down your throat. Nic Salts are less harsh than regular nicotine, they *may* be more rapidly absorbed than regular nicotine as well. I had a pretty unhappy throat and respiratory system in general when I started vaping full-time, a throat hit was FAR from my desire... I also drank a lot of chamomile tea, with milk and honey, it helped a lot and chamomile is far more calming than any over the counter herb has a right to be, it really helped with my cigarette detox too.

    Good luck!
