So just picked up a Griffin rta, and love it. I have seen confirmation from GeekVape that the Griffin 25 ceramic block and plug will work, and is compatible with the Griffin 22MM rta. Has anyone tried a single coil build using the ceramic block on the Griffin rta? Wondering what the air flow is like.

Below is from GeekVape

"Thank you for contacting us today! In regards to the ceramic block, it was not originally a part of the Griffin 22, as it was produced when the Griffin 25 was put into production. Fortunately, though, yes the ceramic block from the Griffin 25 will fit the original Griffin 22"

Works well. Air flow is quite good IMO. Flavorful. Actually prefer the single coil here.

Awesome. Good to know. Appreciate the feedback. I purchased the top air flow addition just in case, but doubt I will use it. Thanks Again!

I don't use it. IMO flavor is better with it closed. Finally figured how to wick the thing thanks to the help of a local store manager who uses the Griffin extensively.

Yea can be a bit tricky to wick. I just tuck it even with the bottom of the wick ring. Seems to work out good for me that way. I still have a little leaking when I use Rayon, need to get that down packed. Cotton is good to go though!

I take the ring off, wick through the bottom after thinning the tails some, carefully screw the ring on so it doesn't catch the cotton, cut it tight at the bottom opening, then pull cotton up near the coil opening (where it has been pulled taught) so it sets at the bottom of the ring. This ensures that the cotton is nice and full at the end and you haven't jammed it.

Nice I will have to try it that way, and see if I can use Rayon again. ! Appreciate that advice!

This thread is relevant to my interest.

Screwing that ring on without catching the cotton seems damn near impossible for me. I love the Griffin but wicking this thing is killing me. What you wrote here may help as I've been running the wicks to the end of the channels.

I wicked mine tonight with a single coil using rayon and had no leaks. My first attempt was duel coil with rayon and it leaked all the juice out rapidly. In between I wicked duel coils with cotton and had no leaks.

Main issue tonight is not getting enough juice to take multiple hits. I have to wait several minutes between hits or I get a semi nasty hit. This could be due to my inexperience with rayon wicking. For the Griffin I don't think the tails on the rayon like I do in an RDA. Marking this and hope you post your results with rayon.

Tried single coil, taste burned rubber. I have a feeling that the little plug is the culprit. This is on top of all of the wicking/leaking issues. GeekVape should really redesign this and then send us all a working atty. :)

I have the plug in with the ceramic on top. Don't have any burning rubber taste. Don't see how it's even possible to burn the rubber with the ceramic piece on top of it with a single coil set up

I plan on going back to Rayon my next build, but for now try the below. I haven't got a dry hit yet, and chain vaped all throughout the day without any issues. I think most Rayon users problems is that Rayon can hold a lot more juice than cotton, and they have too much Rayon going through the wick ring.

1. Use more Rayon than you think possible in your coil. When I put Rayon through the coil, it should almost pull the coil as you are pulling the cotton through. Rayon doesn't expand like cotton, it contracts, and that's why you have to use more than you would with cotton. If you prime your coil/cotton, and you see a gap you need more Rayon or you get dry hits.

2. You can try @Beeker25 method above, and see if that helps. (I'm going too my next build). What I did is just tuck the Rayon in the wick ring, and I could barely see any coming out through the hole. (Which is what you want)

3. I had luck leaving the air flow open, and just closing the juice control when I filled, and I left a little gap when I filled. (Seemed to help) I think the gap helps with pressure forcing more juice through the wick holes.

4. Make sure your o-rings are good or not missing. They seem to fall off easy.

Yeah I hear ya, maybe it was a something else, but it definitely tasted like burnt rubber with the single coil build. Anyway I tossed it into the atty graveyard box after 1 day of messing with it. Really wanted to like it but to me it wasn't worth the aggrevation.

Got a nice fit with vibration and a nice squeaking sound when I wicked it tonight. Moistened the wick before putting the tank on and no gaps.

Will probably try this but not tonight. Getting late for me. Right now I'm getting good flavor but just can't chain vape.

O rings are good, and yeah I noticed they are easy to fall off.

ETA: ^^^ expand that for my notes.

One thing I forgot to mention is I rotate my tank 365 degrees clockwise, and then stop at open. I just hold the glass and rotate, works great for me.

Here is a video I found pretty helpful with wicking the Griffin

The great flavor and dense clouds couldn't get me to toss it yet. It takes me a while to wick and yes it aggravates me a bit but I'm sure wicking will get faster with time and experience. I love this RTA too much to give up on it yet.

Someone gave me a tip last night to rotate clockwise to keep from loosening the wick ring. Good idea. That wick ring is killing me.
