I have a plume veil that i lent to a friend. When he returned it, it was all gunky. not sure what it is but it's quite sticky. any recommendations on cleaning it? i heard iso alcohol was a good solvent. Wanted to ask before i did it
When in doubt, throw it out. It doesn't take anytime to rebuild, right? Unless it's some kind of super duper coil that took hours to build ? If a simple dry burn can't de-gunk it, just rebuild. alcohol can't hurt it I don't think.
Pretty sure he meant that the atty is gunked up, not necessarily thecoil in it. QUOTE="Steelgirl, post: 17577459, member: 154120"]When in doubt, throw it out. That was my initial thought too, add a little salt to the Alcohol when you soak it, and shake it around a few times. If he used what I think he did in the Plume, then alcohol will only remove some of it, you need the abrasiveness the salt provides to remove it all.
I don't use alcohol for cleaning. Just bothers me that I could vape it's residue. I would rather vape Dawn residue I guess. Like was mentioned, use dish soap, warm water and elbow grease.
If he used it to your RDA to melt and vaporize something solid and oily you will have to use alcohol over 180 proof, 91% ISO rubbing alcohol is fine. A little salt added will help it strip all the residue off your atty. A follow up with hot water and dawn will remove any traces of the alcohol. The residue will repel soap and water so you need to use a solvent like alcohol or d-limonine. A bit of shaking in the bottom of a cup should clean it up nicely.
