In 1995 I was traveling on an Amtrak train from Pismo Beach, California, to San Juan Capistrano, CA.
The train pulled in to a stop in Oxnard, CA; there was a group of teenage boys near the tracks (13-to-15-ish) in the yard about 300 feet before the platform.
I barely noticed them from my seat in the train-car until there was a loud 'thud' against the side of the train near where I was sitting. It didn't hit the glass, it hit the aluminum siding below the windows.
I looked back at the group of boys and they were attentively eying my train-car; I was certain one of them had just thrown the rock that struck my passenger car.
So, anyway, I am convinced that the projectile that struck the recent train in Philadelphia had nothing to do with the Amtrak 188 crash/wreck that happened later that night; I think it is just a coincidence.
