once you become addicted to smoking I do not think it is ever possible to go back to being a "non-smoker'. Addictions don't really go away.

I have not had alcohol since around 1994 but I still get urges enough that I am not above drinking a non-alcoholic beer in some social situations because I am quite sure me and booze is still a REALLY bad idea.

Oh yeah, there is also the thing that I was off the cancer sticks for 3 weeks before I started vaping. According to everything I have read I was well over the physical nicotine addiction but if not for an e-cig I would have probably fallen back into smoking the coffin nails again. I was on the edge when I shelled out a buck and a half at the smoking everywhere kiosk and I kinda thought that was a feeling that most people on this forum would be able to relate to at least a little.

I did once go through the hell of giving up smoking and managed to last a year but even though I was well over the bad part of giving up, it was as if I just couldn't stop feeling like there was something missing from my life and ended up smoking again.
it was constant?......... i wouldnt of lasted a year if i felt the need all the time 8-o

It's hard to explain, I was over the 'need' for a cigarette after about four months of quitting cold turkey and I could even 'think' about them without getting 'any' of those terrible craving to have one.....yet the thing I never got over was as if there was something missing from life. I stupidly had a cigar one xmas, thinking that it wouldn't hurt.....but I soon ended up back on cigs after that........until e-cigs came along nothing could make me give up smoking again.

Me too! I hadn't had a real cigarette in about six weeks when I ordered my first e-cig.

I missed my habit, I wanted it back, I didn't want to smoke nasty, deadly analogs, the e-cigs have ALWAYS sounded great to me. So I got a bit of the habit back and feel like myself a little again.

So I get it, though I had not quit as long as you had, but I knew I would never touch another cigarette again. But I missed them terribly, it's dumb.
