Hi genelbc. I "failed" (dual used) for 12 days before I hit my stride in vape. What helped me was keeping a cheap clearo/tank filled with the next higher nic in it. When I felt the "itch" that the vape couldn't scratch I'd just hit the higher nic once then go back to the regular vape. It usually took 3 days to a week for me to become adjusted and not need the higher nic. I say usually because I used this same technique to gradually lower my nicotine down to the 3 and zero I now enjoy. Relax, it won't be long until you'll be saying how easy it really was. You've already proven you have the desire in the large progress you've made already, it gets easier from here.

Good luck in your vape journey.

I've been at it a year and still have one sometimes (or assume I will, it's been 2 weeks). There's some disgusting aspect, but I often thoroughly enjoy the first 5 drags or so -- and then have no problem not having any more. They just aren't that good (over so fast, for one thing) and I'm not even used to thinking about them. 2 half cigs per month vs. 500 = .2%

There is more than just Nicotine in those stinkers that your body is addicted to. I went 3 months and then fell back to analogs for a while but have not had one for 4 months and the longer I go the less I want a cigarette. I had to do a lot of research and finally figured out what equipment worked the best for me and I could not be happier.

As several others have already said, be happy about all the cigs you haven't smoked, but don't fret over the occasional one you do. You'll eventually get to the point where those urges become less and less frequent. I still get 'em on rare occasions, but some 24mg WTA juice in a dripper fixes 'em right quick. :w00t:

I used to bring 4 smokes with me everywhere i went when i first started vaping..
I think you have to reach a point where you trust that it's working..
I've tried quitting so many times that i finally quit quitting..

In fact, after my first weekend, i was feeling good about what vaping was already doing for me..
I noticed such an energy increase that monday night at work..

So at second break, which is about 4:45am for me,i got curious and lit one of my 4 smokes up..
I just wanted to see if there was a difference in my body..Did vaping give me this energy boost this soon into it?

Right away after a couple of hits,it was like this bla feeling entered my body..
I had smoked about 1/4 of it and tossed it away..
I could feel it lingering in my lungs and didn't like that feeling at all..my energy dropped like a rock.
That was my turning point that i would look back on from then on out..I knew right then vaping was for me..

It was a year later on my anniversary of quitting that i thought i would try one again..I just wanted to see how my body took it after this long being off of them..
I tried one again and it was worse..
a couple of hits and i told myself..well that ended anymore curiosity for me..

I always tell people to carry a few with them for emergencies when they first start vaping, but vape and see if it holds off that feeling..
If not,..Just pay attention to how your body reacts to it..Even an hour later..

Either way, your still haven't smoked the pack or two you were before..
    To me That's Winning..
Outlook is very important i think..

Remember that going cold turkey with e-cigs is not as common as you would think. Most people here went the route of dual-use before finally giving up cigarettes completely. If you think you'll be having those intense cravings where you just have to have one to be satisfied, keep a few around. Or get an extra tank and fill it with some unflavored with a higher nic level than your usual vape. As has been said many times, in this thread and countless others, it is about how many you didn't smoke, not how many you did.

Just try to view it as harm reduction. So you smoked a cig, who cares really, you still have the same addiction to nicotine going whether you smoke analogs or e-cigs, the world doesn't end because you lit up a smoke. Have you gone from smoking 1-2 packs a day, down to smoking 1-2 cigs a day or a week? If yes, awesome, congratulations. Don't beat yourself up about it and just keep going.

Ok, I just got a " Spinner 2 " battery and it's charged but it does not seem to work. I got it off the internet so there were no instructions.
    That's a statement, not a question. ;)

Have you tried pressing the button five times in rapid succession?

Does anything happen with the light in the button?

I found a vape and juice just a few days ago that i liked and i hadnt smoked a cig since. But for some reason tonight i really had a crave for a real cigarette and i gave in. It tastes horrible and disgusting but some how pleasurable. Im sure this is normal for a newbie thats trying to quit analogs but i feel like i failed at my goal of quiting. Any words of encouragement from anyone in the same predicament?

Don't worry too much about having an occasional cigarette. The important thing is like others have said it's the ones you don't smoke. The key there is you said it tasted horrible. This is great, because it means you really don't want those things anymore, and the vaping is going to be your way out. I was a pack a day to 2 packs a day smoker for 40+ years. I've now been cigarette free for two months and you can do it. Don't beat yourself up over an occasional cigarette and keep at it. Good luck!

The few days ive gone without a cig i really had no disire. But now for no reason i smoked one. I truly appreciate your words of encouragement. It did feel to good to be true that i could just quit like that. I guess it was. Thank you vcross

Actually there is a reason, something about the half-life of all the different chemicals in cigarette smoke, and the time they take to leave our bodies -- the rule of 3's applies -- 3 days, 3 wks, 3mos -- I had no problem at 3 days, but 3 wks and 3 mos hit me pretty hard. But just recognize that your body has a big change going on... even with e-cigs to make it easier, there still may be rough spots. Just keep on vaping! Some folks around here were able to quit just by walking into a vape shop... others, it takes a little longer. :thumb:

    Hang in there!

I dual used at first too. I noticed really quick that after a smoke I didn't feel well but not with the vape. I've stopped smoking a number of times in my life but always went back. With vape I'm pretty confident I will never smoke again.

I bought 2 on ebay before I found ECF, both turned out to be clones and one quit on me early on. Getting a mod with the Nautilus Mini was my game changer.

Don't worry about it the first month I was Vaping I was aslo still smoking some I cut back a little at a time until the point where my last pack lasted 3 days and at that point I said no more and haven't looked back and that was March 21,2014 so if you need to wing your self off that's fine I was smoking 2-2.5 packs a day so stick with it and if you need a real smoke have one and eventually you will not one any more
