Halcyon Haze – Complex E-liquid

Halcyon Haze have amazingly managed to produce an e-liquid for everyone whilst only offering four liquids. These four liquids encompass a surprisingly wide range of palettes. The flavours are on a completely new level as far as the industry goes, it’s not often we find a liquid that has such a long list of flavours or that those flavours truly compliment each other as these do with each flavour flowing seamlessly into the next.​

They offer liquids in 20ml bottles at 0, 6, 12 and 18 mg of nicotine and cost £11.99 ($20 or €14.50) which may seem pricey at first glance, but this is on par with other quality gourmet liquids and we feel that the price can be justified. The liquids contain only UK made, Pharmaceutical grade nicotine, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin that has been tested and meets the requirements for the EU and USA Pharmacopeia. Each bottle also bears all appropriate warnings, batch number and best before date (ours allowed for 18 months)
We tested all these liquids at medium strength (12 mg) over several days, vaping at 7 watts using an innokin MVP V2 and an Iclear 30 tank.

The Liquids


Earth Brother​

Turkish tobacco flavor concentrate, which has been extracted using our special in-house triple filtration process. Lightly roasted chestnuts, burnt brown sugar and mixed spices. – Halcyon Haze​

They chose the name well with this liquid. The flavour starts with the tobacco on the inhale and you get the chestnuts/sugar/spices on the exhale leaving you not with a tobacco aftertaste but with a pleasant slightly sweet earth/nutty sensation, this lasts for a while. As described on their site the flavour is very dry which adds to the earth effect. The tobacco is very smooth and mild and gives a slight, non offensive throat hit. This could quite easily be a ‘daily vape’ for anyone who likes their tobacco flavours.
The odor is subtle being distinctively tobacco however not having the stale smell, the chestnuts are apparent when smelling from the bottle however not in the vapor itself.
Our recommendation: Vape whilst relaxing after dinner.

Gins Addiction​

White Gin, natural blackcurrant, Absinthe, lemon, mint fusion and light menthol hit. – Halcyon Haze​

An excellently refreshing vape, with the inhale bringing the taste of white gin and a smooth taste of blackcurrant following in to a fresh taste of lemon and a good hit at the back of the throat. The exhale brings the anise taste of absinthe and menthol. True to Halcyon’s description this liquid does leave a tingling across your tongue and a delicious zesty aftertaste.
The odor is fresh both out of the bottle and from the vapor smelling clean and of lemon giving a beautiful aroma for a short while after every vape.
Our recommendation: vape at a summer barbecue or party in the sun

Sweet Prudence​

Tangerine zest, acacia honey and French vanilla, mixed with a host of secret ingredients. – Halcyon Haze​

The primary flavour of this liquid is the honey which added with the brilliant vapor production and gentle throat hit gives an amazing texture that’s perfectly smooth, hints of tangerine and vanilla add to this to make a very relaxing vape. The best way to describe the feeling this liquid gives is the same feeling as a warm mug of honey and lemon to drink, soothing. Although we couldn’t test this we have the impression that this is also the perfect vape for when you have a cold or are feeling ‘under the weather’.
The aroma of this liquid from the bottle is a mix of tangerine and vanilla however once in the air the aroma is purely vanilla.
Our recommendation: vape before bed

The sweet and complex - Venus In Vapes​

A very powerful and distinct aniseed taste, blended with molasses and apple puree, rich yellow custard and bourbon vanilla. – Halcyon Haze​

The aniseed here whilst not overbearing is distinct and with the addition of the sweet molasses, apples and vanilla make a fruity vape that isn’t too sweet. The use of bourbon vanilla as opposed to the standard vanilla used in e-liquids results in a unique creamy taste and the addition of custard to this results in a well balanced and delicious blend.

Our recommendation: the vape to go with breakfast

The Pros​

  [*=center]These liquids are 60% PV and 40% VG meaning they hit the sweet spot, tasting great and allowing for larger plumes of vapor

  [*=center]The presentation delivered here is second to none, Ours arrived in clear plastic sleeves with their logo and name printed on which showed off the bottles themselves and looked far more sophisticated than most companies boxes. However we have also seen them in stores and on the website in well designed presentation tubes (see image below). It isn’t often that I could feel 100% happy giving someone the gift of a single bottle of e-liquid for a birthday or festive occasion however these emanate style and sophistication making them a brilliant gift.

The cons​

  [*=center]We found the liquids could be awkward to cleanly dispense in to our tanks, the plastic bottles the liquids come in are slightly thicker than other companies and as such when they are still quite full squeezing them sufficiently to get a steady flow of liquid can be difficult. This proved to be an issue with cheaper tanks or ones with a smaller opening to fill through however with a tank such as an iclear 30 which offers a wider opening this issue disappeared.

  [*=center]Again a problem with the bottles. The nozzle at the top is quite long in fact it’s long enough that on two of our bottles when the cap was pressed down and twisted to be removed, the nozzle was catching on the top of the cap and twisting/bending . This slightly exacerbated the filling tanks problem, this was rectified easily by cutting just a few ml off the nozzle.
