Ok stop trying to take away my excuse for not being in pictures :) I think both of mine could use my camera I just don't want them too...LMAO However, when grammy gave the kids their own camera's my son went through 150 pictures in about 15 minutes...LOL some where actually in real nice focus, have quite a few of nicly focused grass pictures...lol

Will do :)

OH hmm armor LOVE IT!

The helm is going to be trick, think more round brain bucket with a scrub brush on top. The fringe pieces you are wondering about I think are called a tasset. Or even a small leather kilt.
Here is the cool thing about greek soldiers at the time, they provided their own weapons and armor where they could or scavenged the battle fields. Unless noble or a noble born officer it was was not all that uniformed, swords were rare I mean really rare most units supplied spears. They figured outfit 100 men with spears with the materials that it would take for one sword.

good link with examples. Products > Armor > Greek Armor

If worse comes to worse check the history books, you could end up making him a tiny Viking, Visigoth, or a Roman conscript.. or if you have extra old curtains laying around the breastplate and helm would be nearly perfect for addition of slash puff of a Landesknechte costume.

The reason slash puff became mainstay in med evil fashion was due to these guys. They had a king turn on them and leave them and their camp followers out in the cold literally. It was the remaining tent material and what ever could be salvaged, you can still see the influence in the Vatican's Swiss guard.

The Mid evil period is kind of a hobby of mine, I was able to trace some family back that far I just wish I knew if they were Landesknechte, or at least Bezerks. (That would explain A LOT!)

Seriously considering getting a giant sword with my cig spare change IF I can stop gettnig ecig stuff first :p.

So if I take the helmet up at the sides so his ears kind of show, then curve down slightly around the nape of the neck, while living the front long and pointy that would work better.... It might have to be plain on top I have not long scrub brushes to put on top of it...LOL Trying to think if I have anything that will work.

Oh no not a history book...LOL hehe I looked in the kids history book but it was worthless, after all it for a really quick overview with mainly pictures.... And then out Ancient Civilizations book only has pictures of some artifacts, and what I can remember about my dress of the western world ancients to middle ages, Greek armor wasn't really covered.. LMAO

That is interesting I did not know that was the beginning of the Landesknechte. I have done a version of slash and poof for costumes before, but that was when he was a baby (also got paid once to make a Landesknechte type costume for a 5 month old so he matched his daddy at the Ren Faire...lol)

We where thinking about a spear, but then again I just might let him take his toy sword and say heck with it, however, no sword fighting for him because I am sure no one else is going to be as protected as him....lol

With the sword if you want it to hold an edge (told you all I was nuts...lol) stay away from the Pakistani ones (too Soft) and I think it is the 400 Stainless (could be wrong but I think that's the one) because it is to brittle, about these things I ask my brother who spent years blacksmithing in the Ren faire circuit...LOL

LOL i was kinda green. Are you familiar with the Alice video game?
here's a pic of the mad hatter from that:

i built the hat using a heavy cardstock attached to a cheap costume hat (so i didn't have to mess with the brim of the hat), then covered it in black and white cloth patches, then painted the symbols on it. the hat was pretty tight on me, so it stayed on pretty well.....except where it was windy

Halloween is my favorite holiday and this year I'm doing it up right.

I'm decking out the front yard with a shack that im building and I will be hiding in it. Dressed as a zombie (already have facial and body prosthetics) and i'll reach out and try to grab the kids as they walk by. Also when im bored of the shack I will hide in the shadows and have a prosthetic leg that i'll be "munching on occasionally". Figure when kids walk by I'll drop it and chase them.
The garage (where the kids will go for candy) will be decked out with a strobe light, fog machine, creepy sounds, and I have a full size skeleton that I am corpsing. Also thinking a full size coffin or a pvc pipe cage for someone to be in.
Ive recruited my GF's kids to help out. For her daughter I picked up a blond porcelain bride doll off ebay. I tore the dress, dirtied it up and painted blood running down her mouth, neck, and arms. She will carry it around and ask anyone if they want to see her dolly. Also used some 4 inch nails and liquid latex to make a few prosthetics, like she has nails sticking through the skin on her face.
Also mixed up a batch of a few gallons of blood (both edible and non) that im sure will get used for something .

Yeah scaring the crap out of kids (and some adults) is what halloween is all about.

LMAO Promise, that is GREAT! can't wait till I own my own place, in a decent neighborhood, so I can do it up as nice as that sounds!

LOL Kelly, I can only imagine your reaction to the costume if you were expecting the 'regular' mad hatter! If you like twisted, dark versions of classic tales, google "American McGee's Alice"
