I think that in this thread there is a bit of a disconnect concerning why any vaping equipment manufacturer posts comments in the first place. They post them to show prospective buyers why they should become a customer and purchase their products, not why to avoid them.

That is why we have user-forums such as this, to review and advise others of our experience with products with no skin in the game to promote/sell them. If you go to the Halo site, you would be foolish to expect them to promote "not buying" their products. That would be a most unusual business model.

In fact, IMHO, Halo has one of the less bombastic sites in terms of self-aggrandizement. They make no "We are Number 1" claims, or other silly assertions. My sole beef is with the "World Class" customer service. Its good, its not world class however until/unless they expand their staff.

Halo's site should not be compared to general vaping re-seller vendors with multiple product lines. In their business model, promoting their objectivity to a wide range of products with both good and bad customer reviews makes sense. If you don't buy a "Brand X" clearomizer you may very well still buy a "Brand Y" clearo. Indeed, they can simply drop slow selling product lines from their inventory.

No disconnect here. They(Halo) made their bed(rewards program tied to user reviews). Now they should have to sleep in it. Their review scale goes from 1 to 5. Or does it?

I'm just really curious as to whether or not DrDankNuggs got his reward points for his reviews.

I think there may have been a little confusion on this issue. The negative 2 star review DrDankNuggs submitted was posted in the reviews on Halo's website on June15, 10 days before the complaint posted here saying it wasn't accepted. To read it you have to go to the second page of the Longhorn reviews. If DrDankNuggs didn't realize there was more than one page of reviews, and didn't click to the next page, he just simply missed seeing it had been posted.

I've been worried that Halo might not be publishing negative reviews, also. My one review that was rejected (only one I wrote that day), was a "not for me" review, three stars, that included a pretty detailed description of the flavor and a recommendation for which vapers might like it. I guessed it was probably rejected because I said it wasn't to my taste. IMO that's a bad policy, because taste is so subjective, that even a "negative" review can be very informative and useful. I'm thinking of book reviews on amazon.com, some of which criticise a book for characteristics I know I like-- a negative review can provide a good reason to buy a product.

Might be useful for Halo to post detailed guidelines on what sort of content is and isn't allowed in reviews. If "not my taste" will get a review blocked, or if references to other products, blanket statements about industries our coutries, etc, will get a review screened out, it would be easier for people to write honest, critical reviews that could be good guidance for other customers.

Good Morning Everyone,

Here are the guidelines for writing reviews...

Proofreading: Submitted reviews must be submitted with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. Minor corrections can be made by Halo staff, however very poorly written reviews will not be accepted.

Minimum Length: Submitted Reviews must be at least 250 characters with at least some level of detail for points to be earned. Please don’t just tell us you love a product, please tell us why you love it.

Maximum Submissions: You will earn points on a maximum of (2) reviews per day. This is to prevent spamming on our site, while ensuring the points program is not abused.

One Review Per Item: Points will only be approved for reviews on different items. Reviews submitted by the same person for the same item will not be accepted to ensure the points program is not abused.

Disallowed Content: Reviews submitted with inappropriate language or vagrantly disrespectful to the Halo brand will not be accepted. Our products are a tobacco alternative and not a smoking cessation device. Any reviews that reference quitting smoking will not be accepted.

Also, I have taken over approving the reviews so I am gradually going back through some of the unapproved reviews and approving a few. As I have previously mentioned, many of the "negative" reviews are only a few words long, I don't consider that a review and it will not get posted. If one of your reviews does not get posted and you believe it should have been, please feel free to email customer service and I will look into it.

I see plenty of 2 star reviews for various juices. And a definite scattering of 3 stars.

I can see where a company would not allow a 1 star review to post, unless the review was very specific in explaining why the juice deserved such a rating and that reason wasn't just, this juice isn't for me. That is a matter of taste and isn't representative of the juice itself. It would negatively affect the sales of the product and actually offer no benefit to a potential customer. A well made juice that isn't to your taste doesn't deserve a 1 star rating.

I think some people view making negative reviews as a way to slap the company when they didn't get what they thought they wanted, rather than a way to share information with the community.

If the only reason you are writing a negative review is because you are upset that you wasted your money on what you perceive as crap, then that review is likely not to be posted by most companies seeking to build their brand.

Amazon is an example of a company that allows pretty much all reviews to stand. I wish they did more filtering actually. Too many products/books have bad reviews because the reviewer was angry about receiving the wrong item or shipping took too long or they meant to order something else.

I, and I'm sure other customers are too, appreciative that you (Halo) are changing your stance. Hopefully you will continue to look into it because Halo would not respond to me until I threatened to contact the Attorney General citing Halo for false advertising. So if someone writes a reasonable review within your guidelines, whether it flatters anyone at your company or not you should honor the review and rewards points or it could cause your company unnecessary grief.

I'm not sure we're actually changing our stance, the guidelines have been in place since we started giving the opportunity to review. I'm simply making sure that no reviews that do fit the guidelines fell through the cracks. Additionally, the reviews that get approved are up to our discretion, there is no guarantee any review will get posted, good or bad, I disapprove plenty of good reviews due to the character limit or the daily allowance limit or one of the other guidelines. Actually, by far, the biggest reason reviews do not get posted is because they directly say that our products helped them quit smoking which we DO NOT claim and is clearly included as part of the guidelines.

While we do want honest reviews from the full spectrum, we don't see the benefit (to ourselves, our customers or any potential customers) of publishing a completely un-constructive 1 star or negative review simply to show the full spectrum. As has been mentioned, there are numerous 2 and 3 star reviews that have been published as well as plenty of "negative" reviews that have 2 or 3 or even 4 stars. If someone writes a detailed, well thought out review that follows the guidelines and ends up being 1 star I will be happy to post it. So far I have not seen one, hence the lack of approved 1 star reviews.

Aside from all this, I don't think this is an issue that should be taken quite so seriously. They are reviews, opinions, not cold hard facts, not the end all be all of any of the products. As I previously mentioned, if anyone has a certain instance of a review they believe should have been posted and was not, please feel free to contact customer service and they will pass the information along to me and I will be glad to explain what the issue may have been. As anyone here on ECF that has been in contact with me knows, I am more than willing to answer any and all questions and want to keep you all happy!

I hope this helps!

Wow! Man, you take your reviews VERY seriously.

And as there is no policy on Halo nor is there a general legal requirement to allow ALL reviews, your petition to the Attorney General would have been a pointless gesture. There is no claim or policy that is being violated. Just YOUR perception of how something should be.

Maybe you should try yoga or something. Cause you seem a little too tightly wound... (and I don't say that meanly).

In any case, good luck and take care!

I just don't like to be lied to. No matter how petty that may seem to you.

I understand that. And if I implied that you were being petty, I apologize. That was not my intent. I was just surprised by how much it meant to you and how far you were willing to go.

I would dispute that the omission of a negative review qualifies as lying. But that would be my definition and often such things come down to perception rather than any specific definition.

I believe that Halo is seeking reviews that build their brand, explain their products to the community and guide future purchases. While they are willing to accept negative reviews on their site, certainly you can understand where some reviews could be against their interests, whether that is because they are poorly written, don't offer anything substantive, are off topic, violate their policy or would harm their brand.

I don't believe they are attempting to deceive anyone. They just have a different agenda than you.

For example, I would never expect the following review to be posted by any company:

1 Star: I just received a new bottle of "Super Juice". I heard so many good things about this juice and the company that I expected something truly wonderful. That is not what I got.

The bottle was pretty and I really appreciate the dripper tip. However, on opening the bottle I got a distinctive whiff of sardines. Upon closer examination, the smell of "fish" became even more pronounced. Thinking that perhaps I was mistaken, I loaded up my Vivi Nova tank and fired it up.

While there were clouds of vapor and a HUGE throat hit, I nearly gagged on the sweaty-gym-sock-meets-canned-tuna taste. Maybe it is just my palate, but this juice is unvapable.

While it is on point and provides flavor information, that person's experience of the juice is so extreme from the norm that it could cause definitive harm to that product or the company. The appropriate response to this type of review would be to contact the customer directly and determine why they experienced that smell/flavor. Perhaps something was defective with that bottle or that batch. Posting it on the website would not be useful to anyone.

Granted, this is just my opinion and does not suggest that you should not continue to pursue what you consider to be important.

We're just having a discussion. We have free speech and forums to have discussions. It appears Halo is getting this under control. I'm glad. I had a couple reviews cancelled in the past and we (Halo and I) worked it out and I still consider myself a Halo customer. I was going to remain quiet because I thought maybe it was a glitch or isolated event. The issue was behind me.
But when I saw the smoke from other threads and posts come up I knew the fire may still be burning so to speak. So I simply chose to add my :2c:.

I will vouch for them in posting my other 2 star review. They didn't post my review of the G6 USB charger (likely because of the "Taiwanese" remark), but did publish a very similar review of the Triton USB charger. Maybe it was my wording in the 1st review, or possibly Cinder Ella mixing it up a bit. Either way, they have shown me that they will post them. I think it's also very likely that very few of the 1 or 2 star reviews are written well, have enough to say or provide any constructive criticisms.

Why on earth would the manufacturer allow people to damage the product on their own site?? It's not dishonest it's simply business. Educated people should understand this and take their reviews with a grain of salt. Instead, you're kind of going the other way and taking them way too seriously given the medium of said reviews. They make ejuice. They are NOT a public forum in which users may share and express unfiltered, unbiased opinions on ejuice.

Halo are not journalists and do not make their money based on the integrity of their customer reviews. They make ejuice. And it's good ejuice! They know it's good and their fans know it's good. Why would they allow someone to go on THEIR SITE and trash them? Would you expect to see "This movie sucked!" on a big budget motion picture poster? Would you expect an Olive Garden commercial to have people saying "ohh their food is great but the prices are a little high for unfrozen dinner entrees!"

Go look for reviews where their appropriate. The manufacturer's website and primacy source of sales is not an appropriate place for a fair, unbiased opinion on ejuice.

I am happy to help w/ the editing. Flagrantly vs. Vagrantly unless you mean only Vagrants can't post.
Hope you can take a bit of a ribbing............
I have samples of Halo on their way to me and am excited to try them. I found this thread while searching out an answer to my question: "do Halo juices have to steep?" I am still looking.

Hi Pat,

No our liquids do not HAVE to steep, its entirely up to personal preference, many people steep them, many people do not, the flavors do tend to blend and develop a bit more if you let them steep a bit, but again, that's entirely up to your personal preference.

I am happy to help w/ the editing. Flagrantly vs. Vagrantly unless you mean only Vagrants can't post.

Except Halo admins go around ECF forums or have atleast in the past and had Mods delete negative reviews of their juices. I've posted glowing reviews of certain juices and everything negative was deleted. The whole experience was disheartening and forced me to explore wonderful juices made by other companies and also learn how to make my own juice.

Why on earth would the manufacturer allow people to damage the product on their own site?? It's not dishonest it's simply business.
