I have a halo triton tank system... how many full tanks (2.4ml capacity) should my coils last? I mainly vape clear or light brown/golden color e-liquids?

the website sells coils but I don't know what coil resistance I should buy, any advice or explanations?
http://www.halocigs.com/replacement-coil.html

Also, how often should I clean the tank and coils? It makes sense to clean it every time I change flavor, but what if I stick to one flavor; after how many refills should I clean them?

finally, I don't get any indication that my battery is low (650mah) but it seems to work fine, it usually last about 6-8 hrs of constant use. should I be worried?

Welcome and congrats!!! I love my triton system.

im no expert but a ton of info will make it's way here shortly :D

here is my input.

The tanks come with the 2.2 coils. until you become a vapehead and start wanting to experiment with warmer or cooler vapes you will be fine with those... I went full circle and ended up back with 2.2 coils.

Also, how often should I clean the tank and coils? It makes sense to clean it every time I change flavor, but what if I stick to one flavor; after how many refills should I clean them?

I clean mine around the two week mark, some do it once a week. I refill every day.

finally, I don't get any indication that my battery is low (650mah) but it seems to work fine, it usually last about 6-8 hrs of constant use. should I be worried?

nope, its normal. the unregulated batteries will just continue to drop in voltage until the charge is too low to fire up and the button will flash.

Thanks for your advice. Regarding the battery, in my case the LED doesn't flash when running low.

6-8 hours only? WAT? I have a 650mAh battery on my Triton and it usually lasts me all day+ Never even seen it run out yet since I charge it every night.

I do have a second 650mAh battery I carry around with a second flavor when I feel like it but usually stick to the one.

6-8 hrs of constant, abusive hours; like weekends lol

I've gone 2 days with the battery before, but is not under constant use

Just take your tank apart, run some hot water in the sink and let them soak.

I usually squeeze my wicks out a bit while they are soaking just to make sure I get all the flavor out.

Be careful not to forget the little rubber thingy that goes on top of your coil assembly.

I've done it and down the drain they go.

That's why when a coil goes bad, I save the rubber things and the wicks if they aren't too frayed.

Never know when you'll need an extra.

Some people use denture cleaner(plain, not flavored or anything) and put one tablet in with their tanks if there is a flavor that is a bit resistant.

Hope that helps.

I read that you shouldn't charge your batteries until they start dying... they are lithium ion's so they can only be charged so many times (300 or something around there)... It would be wise to wait if you want to get maximum usage from your battery.

300 charges = 300 days = Probably 10 new batteries between...

I'm not stressing. I like colors and shiny things so I'll probably buy a new battery every month or so. It's not like it's a total bank breaker. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I know this is a long explanation of battery life but here goes.

Battery life

What is the difference bewteen 650mah and 900mah how long will the battery last me between charges?

That is a completely subjective question. (but more on that later)
If you want the nuts and bolts of it, the scientific answer... read on!

A 650mAh battery will put out 650 "milliamps hours" (mah) of energy, after that it will need to be recharged. .
Let's say I have an eGo battery at 650 "mAh" and it is rated as 3.3 volts output, and I have a 3.2ohm clearomizer attached to it.
We will need to use Ohm’s law (which is a constant) to work it how long the battery will last. Ohm’s law states that the current drawn equals the voltage, divided by the resistance.

When we apply this to the 650mah battery and 3.2ohm carto the math looks like this:

The voltage of 3.3 is divided by the resistance of 3.2 ohms. 3.3/3.2 = 1.03 amps (not millimaps) – which is the current draw.

We then move the decimal place so we can compare that current to our 650mAh battery – and 1.03 amps becomes 1030 milliamps. (milliamps is actually 1/1000 of an ampere, so 1.03 amps is actually 1030 milliamps)

So we need to move the decimal to figure out, get it? I know, enough with the math right? Sorry, has to be done, so let's continue...

We must divide the 650 milliamps per hour by the 1030 milliamps per hour we just calculated and we get 0.63 of an hour, which is just under 38 minutes.

This does not mean that your e-cig will only last 38 minutes from the moment you charge it, it simply means if you could hold the button down and fire that clearo for a solid 38 minutes you'd drain the battery of all of it's charge, but since you cannot so this, you have to add up your "puffs"

How many times in an hour do you press that button? How long do you press the button?

Do you change clearomizers?

All of this determines how long the battery will last between charges. If you are a long toker.. it won't last as long.

Vendors generally say a 650mah battery will last 4-6 hours but it might be a lot more.. or a lot less depending on your style of vaping.

Get a higher mah battery and you need to charge it less often, get a battery with a higher voltage and you'll charge it more often and maybe even more with a twist or varibale voltage battery.

The point here is no one can tell you how long a battery will last between charges, it's all about you and what you use.

Also, as batteries lose the ability to chemically create new electrons it will no loner be able to hold a charge, this is battery law based on the chemistry used in the internal battery, over time, your battery will lose it's ability to recharge and you'll have to get a new one. No different than rechargable AA batteries that have to be tossed once in a while.

We need to know what juice exactly that you are using and not just "clear or light brown"

For example, I love Mystic menthol. I have put nearly 60ml through the SAME coil, and there's no sign of wear or gunk on the coil, never cleaned it, never swapped it, no burnt flavor at all. Which is quite remarkable, as I have changed the coil out of my other favorite flavor Southern Classic, at least 6 times with the same amount of use.

Darker flavors like Belgian cocoa, Tiki Juice, and Voodoo gunk coils QUICK. For example, you might get only 2 tanks worth before it's time to clean. With some juices like Tribeca (golden yellow color), after 2-3 tanks, the liquid will turn thick and darken in color dramatically. Sometimes I don't notice until I refill it and am left with light, clear, fresh liquid sitting on top of opaque tainted dark liquid, like water separated from oil.

With a non-Variable Voltage battery, you might notice a drop in vapor production and flavor at the end of the battery charge. That's when I know it's time to throw it on the charger very soon. With the VV, there is no such indication before the lights starts flashing.

6-8 hours of solid use sounds about right for your 650mAh battery. Consider a 1300mAh if you want it to last all day.

As for which ohm coils you should buy, this comes down to trial and error as well as personal preference. Supposedly the low ohm coils will vape warmer. I prefer the cooler 3.0-3.2 coils, especially in a Variable Voltage unit. They seem to slightly extend the life of the coil/wick between your cleaning regiment, and give you a wider range to dial into. With the standard Triton, ymmv. I suggest grabbing a couple packs of varying resistances, and hunker down for a few vaping tests, in the name of science of course. :p

And with those 300 charges you won't get a poof it's done. It will be more like it won't hold the charge for as long gradually dimishing...

Hey, oc_1990,
Welcome. 3 questions, cleaning, bat discharge/charge and bat charge. Look around at some older threads in the Halo section. These topics are discussed. A lot!!!

Cleaning. If you add juice, and it's a lot lighter, you need to clean. Not everything in the juice goes up in the vapor, some remnants remain, like reducing a sauce. At some point, you'll have too much remnant in the tank, as GreenLeaf says, and it gets dark. These remnants cling and gunk the coil.

Discharge- Your bat will blink like 10 or 15 times quick when it is out. But it's ok to charge before this happens. Bravesfan gives a good explanation. My 650 will last a day+. When your experience grows, you'll sense the first 5 to 10 hits off the battery are hot, then it levels off for the majority of the discharge. Till the last 10 hits, which will be very low. You'll feel it. Also, my LED will dim a bit while hitting at the end of the discharge.

The 300 cycles is a standard of comparison. Basically, if you fully discharge and charge the battery 300 times, the battery will only last 75% of the discharge time then it did when new. They shouldn't die, they just don't have as long a discharge. And contrary to earlier posts of mine, It is just fine to recharge after 50% discharge, no penalty.

A 900mAh will last about 30% longer than a 650mAh. If you get 9 hours of use from a 650, you should expect 12 hours from a 900mAh.

Good thing you went with Triton. The 650 bats last longer in discharge and last longer in months than most other units. Superb quality bats.

And the tanks? You will search a long time to find something that outperforms a triton tank.

The batteries are rated for 300 cycles: it's on the Halo site. After 300 recharges, they'll need a recharge more often, until it becomes completely useless. I have not come across anyone that has reported a battery dying from use, yet, so who really knows how long you can use them.

Overall, I'm glad I chose the 900 mAh, because, IMO, they're a better investment. I might charge them once a day, maybe. If you vape a lot, and recharge your 400 mAh 5 times per day, you'll hit 300 in two months.

Either way, the Triton battery is a better choice than SI (competitor), because they're not regulated, and they don't have an insanely long recharge time. Just watch out for the first 5 puffs: they're at the peak of the battery charge ;)

I have no idea why they're not a kit option.

So Cal
I second what everyone else has already said! However, just to be different, I have one 900 vv battery, and if I'm chain vaping at around 3.9 it only lasts me three hours .....my 650 lasts me less, and my 400 is great for the purse and stealth vaping - obviously ymmv:p The whole Halo setup is rock solid - really well made, tanks are awesome, and the juice is fabulous of course:vapor:

Oh, I forgot to answer one of your questions....I have yet to replace a coil after however many days in my sig...they last a long time with good vodka soaks!
