Wait…you got the puff of death from some batteries AND PUT THEM BACK IN!?!? It sounds like they vented. A safety feature. I’ve had that happen but then I put them on gravel or in a bucket of sand, in case they thermal runaway and road flare (if they do that the plan is to let them burn out, because I can’t put them out anyway, and then shovel the solidified mess off the drive or wherever and recycle that, but it’s never happened to me. Just others.) and when they’re cool again I put tape on the terminals to keep them from EVER being drawn from again, because they’re hella unsafe, and put them in my “hazardous recycleables” box. If you’re lucky one or both of them are merely dead. If you’re not lucky they took your mod out too when they died. Even if for some reason one lived, which I doubt, it still shouldn’t be used again for anything ever.l
for funzies you may want to google ”lithium metal fire”. You may not want to look at the pics. They’re kinda gorey. Lithium burns hot enough to flash water to steam, and you’re mostly water. So boom.
this applies to everything with a lithium battery in it btw. Laptops, cell phones, wireless earbuds (*shudder* I wont even use those. I don’t put Incindiary bombs inside my skull even if they’re tiny ones) etc..
