Today was amazing! Since I retired at the end of September I've been doing all kinds of work around the house that needed to be done for a long time, but today I needed a break. Which led to the thought: Okay, so what do I do? I used to be a voracious reader but career, husband, kids, home, and finally optic neuritis brought on by MS put a stop to that about seven years ago. That's right, I haven't read a book in all that time. With the career and husband gone, the kids have their own lives, the optic neuritis reversed in one eye, and a home that can by-gosh wait - I picked up a book that I'd started 7 years ago and put down in sheer frustration.

I began at the beginning and soon rediscovered a whole world that I'd forgotten. The mastery of a wordsmith painting a gripping story with words combined in such a clever way that he can make you laugh, smile, or cringe in fear. The rest of the world just falls away. I know - it's such a simple thing, but to me it was wonderful.

I'm happy for you Rave-sure sounds like you've earned your break. I love books & in past analog days my reading room became the garage where I smoked. Now I can read anywhere & not have to sit in the elements.
