took the plunge and got a gently used Reo grand offline from Electraclyde -- had been trying to avoid spending the money, but just couldn't resist. I've wanted a REO for a long time, so hopefully this is only the first of many!

i know i'll have lots of questions, so here's hoping y'all can bear with another newb :)

and here's the first question: does the "repair kit" on rob's site replace sending the mod back to rob for the 510 upgrade and new contacts? I don't sub-ohm, and wondered if I could avoid sending my new baby away.....

now off to find a suitable rba :)

Why not just use it for a while and see if you like it ----- if you don't sub ohm you really do not need an upgrade.

Most of us have been vaping on REOs for many many years without the upgraded 510 or the new contacts. :)

In the meantime, if you have the old contacts and firing pin, just keep it naoloxed and give it a swipe with a piece of sandpaper once in a while if your contact point gets gunky.

IF you send it in or buy a rebuild kit it WILL get the new contacts because that is what is available now. I personally wouldn't do that just yet esp. if you don't subohm....if everything works good and the 510 connector is *responsive* (i.e, gasket isn't drying out or compressed) then just use it as is and enjoy it!!!!!!!

What she said....absolutely. The improved contacts, if you don't subohm, will barely even be noticable. And if the 510 connector ain't broke, don't fix it. It won't hurt to have a repair kit handy, although I've never needed mine, and it includes a spare spring, in case you ever have a short. So, what atty are you using, and where's the obligatory pics???

(We love us some REO porn :) )

Welcome and congrats on the new Reo. Remember to Noalox or Deoxit the contacts, what color are they, gold or silver?

Also cut a inverted V in the tube to keep it from suctioning to the bottle.

thanks for all the tips! I've watched some of the videos on rob's site -- and will have a much better understanding of it when it's actually in my hands. hopefully mid-next week...
I don't think most of the rba's i have will fit since it's not an LP, so I may try it first with the BF atties or cartos I've used in my Vmods. those little guys are great when they work, but i'm just tired of them not working :) I don't think I'll have that issue with the reo!
Thanks again for the welcome

Welcome to funny farm!!! Can't wait til you actually get it!!!

the adjustable 510 is very nice to have, so you can point your airhole wherever you want it, but totally not necessary. I think you can do that somewhat with Orings maybe, someone who knows more than me (pretty much everyone) can tell ya more about that. I have a mini from the classies with the old 510 and old contacts, and it's working great. One day when I get the dollars I may send it in, but not in a big hurry right now. Too many other things I need to get first.

and happy early birthday!!!

you folks weren't kidding when you say these are addictive....got my used regular grand yesterday and bought an LP grand in the classies tonight

I also bought a regular RM2 from another member that's still on the way....but am now looking on rob's site at the rebuildables that he's already modded for the LP

any suggestions on a new BF rebuildable? I think I don't quite get the differences between the rm3,4,5 etc -- or the igo. I have a few new RBA's, but since my hands shake a lot I'm a little reluctant to take a drill to them :)

So if you already had RM2's...what would be the next BF atty you'd buy from Rob?

Pictures swiped from prior owners' classified ads :)

Congrats on a nice family. What's your vape style? Flavor or vapor, dual or single coils, sub ohm, 1 ohm range or higher? Answers to these will help narrow your search for an RBA.

I like single coils in 1.2 ohm range, but do have some dual coil sub ohm builds for when the mood strikes. The RM3 has two versions, single air hole for single coils and dual air holes for duals. It's a small air chamber flavor machine.

you're right, FB...I should have made it a little clearer. I don't sub-ohm, chase clouds, or drip :) I mostly aim for flavor, throat hit, simplicity and under 10 watts....

I've been vaping for about 4 years --- starting with 808 cigalikes through provaris. And have had the same ADV since about the first week!

Before I discovered the reo, I've been alternating between vmods with 1.7-2.2 atties and isticks with aspire BDCs in a davide. Right now I've got a 2.2 vapage Silo carto on the reo, and it's pretty durn good for a carto....just have been missing that tank-ish flavor

TMI ? :)

You sound like the poster child for the RM2 ;)
