Hard Type 510 cartos. Can they be cleaned?

Hello, As the title asks, is there a way to clean out hard top type 510 cartos? I have a couple filled with juices I didn't like. I didn't think to test them first, and sometimes they taste different in a carto. so please if anyone has tried please let me know whether it worked or didn't.

You can boil or near-boil a small cup of water in the microwave and hold the mouthpiece of the carto in it for 30-45 seconds and then pry off the cap and go from there. You can then boil the carto if you really want it clean.

Have you successfully pryed the top off of a hard type cartomizer? I took the top off of a broken one, and I don't see how you can put it back on without glue.

Yeah, the hot water melts the glue and then you can carefully take them off. I will admit, though, that the one I opened up today seemed to have 2 pieces. I have 2 kinds and apparently the ones that came from EastMall are in 2 pieces and this is the first one I've opened. I'm not really sure, since I've only opened 7 or 8. The ones I got from litecig come apart just fine. I just thought I had accidentally broken the one from today, but when I really looked at it, I think the cap is either in 2 separate (maybe glued-together) pieces or maybe I didn't hold it in the water long enough so it did break. Not sure. Where did yours come from?

I got mine from litecigusa, they didn't have soft tops and were selling these 5 for $6.95.

I'll try soaking them, thank you. Wouldn't hurt to try being that i would throw them out anyway because of the juice in them that i don't like.

Yours should be just like the ones I have successfully opened, then. After you get them hot, take a thin blade or something thin and try to get it just under the lip of the white cap. It will work. Just be gentle. I had one that was pretty hard to get started, but the others were fairly easy.

When I first got into cartos I realized that without a tool of some kind, the hard tips were going to be very hard to get off.

I found a set of the "Dental Picks" at harborfreight.com

The second one from the top is perfect for removing hard tips.

Once you get the tip off, you can flush the carto out with warm tap water. Then blow out as much water as you can and leave them under a desk lamp, or someplace else warm overnight. The air slots on the back of a tv work great to keep the carto from rolling around.

Or if your in a hurry, just blow it out and put about 12 drops of juice in. The first 3 or 4 hits will be kinda weak but after that your good to go. Then you can put 10 or so more drops in to top it off.

awesome, i'll have to give it a try. I'd be so happy if I could save these cartos, I'd hate to waste them.

Also, when you guys are out and about, do you take 2-3 cartos with you for the day, just in case? and if you do, do you put the condom back on? Both sides?

I do put the condoms back on them. But I trim the length of the condoms down with a pair of scissors so they are just long enough to stay on. Makes taking them off easier.

I put a couple in a small mint tin and leave them in my glove box of my car. Kinda a backup up stash in case I'm out and about and start to run low on the carto I'm using. Also have a few in my desk drawer at work.

Yeah thats not a bad idea. I usually keep them wrapped in the condom when not in use. I rotate about 3 right now with different flavors. nice idea to trim the condom. I could fit 3 in my pcc but they can only have one side of the condom on. not sure if I want to leave one side open.. I would like to store them in my pcc though i'd like to use the storage function as well as the charging.

Yeah, I put a carto in my PCC and I had it thread side down without the condom (because it wouldn't fit well) and it leaked some. I think if I ever need to do that regularly I might take just a small piece of plastic wrap of some kind and wrap the cartos or at least make sure the PCC isn't vertical the whole time. Heck, a PCC with 3 cartos and a battery charging/charged is a pretty good setup, even though the battery for me would actually just be a backup in case my bigger battery mod went on the blink or something. That's the thing. You always need a backup plan.

I have some of the litecig hard tip cartos too, and I did finally get one open. Thought I was going to have to use dynamite. That's some goooood glue.

Instead of trying to put the cap back on, I used the outer sleeve from a Magma cart. Fits perfectly and real easy to take off to refill.

I'll admit some of them are hard to do. I take a thin knife blade and gently go around the edge (after holding the carto in hot water) and try to find a weak spot to pry.

Take a heavy paper clip and straighten the end. Then bend a really small 90 degree bend in the end. Slide through the hole in the end and pull like mad. It will usually pop the end off unless your paper clip is too weak.
