So I recently acquired my first e cig which is Kangertech Top EVOD. I burnt my first coil so I ordered 5 more. I inserted the coil, madw sure it was all soaked and primed for use, filled the ejuice and vaped. The hits still are very harsh, I don't think it's the way it should be, I am pretty sire something is wrong, I am really eager to start vaping, help of any kind would be appreciated.

tl;dr: My ecig lets our harsh hits even though I exchanged my burnt coil and primed it right.

Just some general information and thoughts:

Kanger coils don't have the best quality control, so you may have gotten some bad coils, or some coils that are advertised as "similar to Kanger coils". It's not all that uncommon to get a few bad coils in any batch of coils from Kanger. YMMV.

How many cigarettes did you smoke a day? What nicotine strength are you currently using in your e-liquid? The nicotine strength of e-liquid should be comparable to the number of cigarettes you smoked. Nicotine is responsible for the "throat hit", or harshness, in vapor. Too high of a nic level will result in a too harsh vapor.

For e-liquid, the typical nicotine recommendations generally are as follows:

1/2 pack per day or less = 6 mg nicotine
1 ppd = 12 mg
1 1/2 ppd = 18 mg
2 ppd = 24 mg
Harsh vapor can be caused by a higher Pg (propylene glycol) content in the Pg/Vg ratio of e-liquid. Pg contributes to the "throat hit" or harshness, along with nicotine, but not as much.

Some flavors can appear harsh to some vapors, and not to others. Maybe try a different flavor.

What is the resistance of your coils (ohms)? Some folks feel low resistance coils provide too harsh of a vape.

I use 1.5 ohm coils, I think they're original.
I use to smoke about 3/4 a pack a day to maybe a half, now less.
I use the joyetech 11% strawberry ejuice. Don't know the pg/vg ratio.

I would start by cleaning the tank and priming a new coil. Fill it up and let it sit for a few min to make sure it is good and primed....... If you still have harsh hits it could be your juice.. Did it work well and taste good before you put a new coil in it?Or has it been harsh the whole time. Did the vape shope you bought it from set it up for you? We are gonna need some more background info from you

it was harsh all along, i burnt my original coil, this one is new, i made sure it was primed before usage, probably the juice then.

Joyetech liquid is Chinese-made with more PG than VG. Being Joyetech, it's probably too expensive and not very flavorsome - these liquids are older than some on the market. Do they mess around/improve with the ingredients? probably. They certainly weren't made for sub-ohm tanks but your topfill EVOD (VOCC-T coil) should actually work well with this sort of liquid. I would expect 11mg with 60% PG to be not too harsh; also strawberry as a flavor is known to be muted more often than not.
The VOCC-T is a 1.5ohm coil, so you are vaping at about 9 watts. (Unless the battery starts at 4.2v which is unlikely since it's similar to the 3.7v subvod battery)

11mg at 9 watts sounds about right to me. Keep going! :)

Sorry to hear you're having issues with it. This may not help but there is very little adjusting that can be done with that device. You may just need to take short toots off it for a while until everything gets fully saturated and the coil breaks in.

There is more airflow on your set-up than on the original evods so the coil should not be overheating too quickly. But the more cooling air you pull over that hot coil as you draw, the better. imo. Cheers.
