Since there's already a hole in the top of the pin that goes down a ways, it acts as a guide to drill straight through.I drilled mine with a 1.5mm bit down from the top, all the way through and then cross drilled it with the same bit. No drill press involved. Just a set of soft jaws in my bench vise and a cordless drill. Nothin' to it...
It's always good to start the hole by hand with a pin vise. They're cheap, like $4 on eBay. Especially on round/curved surfaces. You can get the wire bits on eBay as well. Buy multiple. They break.Damn.... You know, you guys are good. Im barely passable with a drill. I run all over the place and end up drilling holes all crooked at work. The guys said im not allowed to use the drills anymore. Now they do all the drilling
Very nice. I actually prefer the feed slightly raised. Depending on the design you can usually use the screw hole of the center post as a guide like custom classic said for drilling down through the post. Though you definitely want to start the feed hole by hand with something like a pin vise....round/curved surface...
