Most of the posts I have seen about cleaning out cartomizers involves boiling them in water (plastic parts taken off) for 15-30 minutes. Than throw it in a sealed bag with rice to dry them out or throwing them in the oven at low heat (150ish degrees F) to dry them out. Letting them sit overnight will not dry them out. I have seen people say that they let them sit for over 2 days and could still blow water out of them.

I have seen other methods posted, but the above is the most common as near as I can tell :)

You might try taking a straigtened out paperclip and gently working it in the battery end. If you feel resistence, give the carto a couple of turns. If the paperclip does come out the mouth piece, spin the carto on the paperclip to open up the air passage.

There is a good chance you can break the atomizer wire by doing this so do it at your own risk.

After many try, I found a way to clean it good and this without burning (if you dont have a 915). First take your cartomizer out and put it in tupperware filled with white vinegar. Put it in the microwave for 5 min (or less until it boiled). After leave the cartomizer in the vinegar for 2 hours. Wash it with in cold water, hot water will leave deposit on the coil. Blow air in both ends of the carto ( 5 times each side until no water drips from it ). Make it fully dried by standing it near a window (or you can use my very bright invention call THE GOD'S HAND..that consist to pick a tooth-pick into a piece of styrofoam and hang it the carto. I should ask a brevet for this !!.

I know its a long process just to clean a piece but this way, you cant break anything inside the carto. You can also buy a couples of carto. just to be sure to have your daily dose without waiting .....

Here is where I am confused. If you clean a carto by a water method, why is the drying out so important? I have viewed various methods of cleaning a carto, and when they involve boiling, or water rinsing, or some other rinsing method, everyone emphasizes that they must be dried out by some method. Spinning, putting into the dryer, into the oven, rice, or something else. Why?

Aren't we going to just inject/condom method/drip juice right back into the carto? If so, why is the drying so important?

Help? :?:

I tend to agree with you Sandy. With my 510 Cartomizers, IF THEY ARE GONNA CLEAN UP AT ALL, I do the following:
- Rinse them out periodically by putting one end in a glass of water and using my mouth on the other end to push and pull water through them.
- If the draw is tight, I will GENTLY work a straightened paper clip into the battery end until it comes out the top. If the draw is ok, I don't do this since I've opened a couple up too much doing this.
- After the Cartomizer is rinsed out, I will blow it out as much as possible and then do the reverse Spin to work out any remaining water.
- I used to dry them out over the a/c vent overnight, but I've found after the spin, I can just refill them and start using them again without any problem.

So far, this has worked for me.
Good luck,
Rich

Water doesn't vape very well. What you vape is PG and/or VG. You have to get the water out of the carto or you won't be able to put the juice in.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was focused on getting them completely dry. Now I understand that the water left in, if a lot of it, will cause the problem. So the process of blowing and spinning gets MOST of it out, and that should be OK.

Will try this weekend.

JJRose, thanks for posting that video and also thanks to the maker!

I have one of those syringes, got it at CVS for about $3 and am trying what is shown in the video. After shooting the water and the air through I have them suspended on toothpicks for some extra drying. I'll leave them out for the afternoon and get some use out of our 105+ AZ heat!
