Has anyone tried xylitol as a sweetener?

Have done as much research as I possibly could, and have hit a wall. There is very little info on using xylitol as an eliquid sweetener but it seems like it would be safe to at least experiment with. I have only found one post of someone actually claiming they used it in a liquid. They said it sweetened really nicely but muted flavors. This was an old old thread and the device/vaping wattage/flavor profile ext was not specified.

After looking at some studies it seems like a great option for a low gunk sweetner, as it doesn't seem like it would caramelize easily in vaping conditions, unlike most other more commonly used sweeteners. Also, it seems to have beneficial properties in terms of dental health. Another study tested inhilation on mice and human volunteers with no negitave effects reported.

If anyone has used xylitol as an eliquid sweetener I would love to hear your results! I will be testing it out when I return from my family xmas celebration. Will try to remember to post my results on the forums I have posted threads on. Merry xmas :)

Aaaaaah this makes much more sense as to why it hasn't been used or talked about much in regards to diy juice.

So you basically want a sweetener that is as strong as possible so you don't take up too much space in your mix.

If super sweet uses 20% sucralose, could someone make something like a 50% xylitol solution to make up for its lower perceived sweetness? Or would that still be far weaker than sucralose? Probably not eh? Sucralose is something crazy like 600x sweeter than sugar right?

While it might not be quite as sweet, it is way less gunking than other sweeteners. It tolerates best way better. I'm not a big one for overcrowded juices anyway, so I like the fact my coils and wicks stay cleaner longer.
Which one? There have been 3 different sweeteners mentioned

Well, my bad.. I meant Erythritol, not xylitol. My big bad. In some defense I'm sorta in inpatient physical rehab right now and after a few weeks in the hospital followed by this, I didn't have my spreadsheet ingredient list and recipe history to refer to.

So my comments were all about Erythritol which I think is great. I think I got mine from BCF or OSDIY. It lasts forever used in small amounts (not all my recipes call for any sweetener) so it's been been quite some time since I purchased it.

I couldn't find it on BCF, OSDIYS, NR, HV, or WL, using a search for "Erythritol." Besides NN (see @Opinionated's link); I did find it on ecx.

Must have been ecx then. I have ordered from there so it makes sense. I've never used NN as a vendor. No specific reason why just never got to them.

Isn't xylitol what's used in chewing gum as well

tried making a 20% xylitol dilution into PG and there is no way in hell it will fully dilute. I crushed down the crystals to a powder and it doesnt wanna mix in. Ended up getting frustrated after shaking the .... out of it and warming multiple times. Ended up adding more pg to make a 10%-ish dilution and still doesnt seem to want to dilute. After doing some more searching it seems as though it doesn't like mixing into PG. Someone else mixed it with VG and distilled water and apparently it worked, unfortunately i cant find any scientific articles that explain what would be best to dilute xylitol in. Although it didnt fully dissolve into my pg most of it did at 10% but i didnt really taste any prominent sweetness when knuckle testing it. especially when compared to super sweet or ricks sugardaddy sweetener.

Try disolving xylitol in distilled water. Or just buy liquid xylitol.

***Link-https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/xylitol***
Very soluble in water, sparingly soluble in ethanol

Milled and specialized granulated grades of xylitol have a tendency to cake and should therefore be used within 9 to 12 months. Aqueous xylitol solutions have been reported to be stable, even on prolonged heating and storage.
