I never heard anyone marketing 72% cocoa for anything other than baking. Someone sells that percent as a ready to consume? That would be horrible.
I have a special 82% chocolate bar that I am treated to every Christmas....I love it but a little goes a long way (It is also very expensive from Belgium as well)

Have I ever had a chocolate bar that didn't taste like chocolate? Why yes I have....

For a very long time as a child, my mother would give us carob bars and tell us it was chocolate.... god I hated that stuff.....

Your mom did that, too? You must have grown up in the 70s...lol

Yep...'70's carob victim here too!

FWIW, sugar free chocolate has come a long way since then. Thanks to maltitol, I can have my (real) chocolate and keep my blood sugar happy. :D

giggles you've obviously never had endangered species chocolates....they were giving these away at the indy zoo for halloween...
"NATURAL DARK CHOCOLATE HALLOWEEN TREATS"
72% cocoa content | Certified gluten-free, vegan, kosher

while the company themselves have a great mission....and apparently make some good chocolates....whatever this so called chocolate abomination was.....it was not chocolate...my kids wouldn't even eat it...and I like all chocolate, sweet, bitter, white, dark....it was like eating chalk.

That was so far beyond nasty that it needs a new adjective.

That carob stuff was VILE, wasn't it?

Malitol tends to be a bit "unstable", though, and people who consume a little too much can be a tad.....um....noxious.

I remember that stuff very well.

I use both Halo Chocolates and have people ask if they can sit beside me because it smells so good. Interesting...

Chocolate is one of those elusive vapes (like coffee vapes) very hard to get right...I searched when new to vaping and ended up with 2 that were vapeable both from Halo #1 Shamrock...great chocolate/mint (like those girl scout cookies or andies mint patties) and the Belgian Cocoa and it is cocoa not chocolate per say...be forewarned however as the leave a strong (and not so pleasant smell when you vape them). I like the the taste but my Husband asks me to vape it outside because he says it smells like dirty gym socks

Oh, and I heard chocolate bar is a hard flavor to attain in DIY. The only chocolate I have used it was intended as a background flavor not the primary.

Thunderball, why didn't you mention your chocolate experience when we met? We really need to do a DIY class at Steam Cigs but not one led by anyone in particular, just to share tips and try each other's concoctions.

Yeah, Probably best to just go there during the day and sit at the big table and just do it. They wouldnt mind im sure.

Agreed... The butterfinger I make, when it is vaped, you would swear that someone is rudely eating one and has his/her mouth open inches from your nose....:p

As stated, chocolate is kind of impossible... cocoa is about the closest you'll come... as far as vaping goes, chocolate makes a better addition than it does a straight flavor.

I have also never had a "hard" candy... a candy that you suck like a lollipop that actually tastes like chocolate either... they taste like cocoa or cocoa puffs or... chocolate doesn't transfer to this kind of candy either---> for the same reason it doesn't transfer to vaping.

...this next bit isn't meant entirely for you... just a reflection in general...

flavor is a bit overrated as far as I am concerned... It's a replacement for a cigarette, not a meal or snack replacement... I am smoking/vaping... the #1 thing I look for is the performance of the liquid. Does it work well? plumes of vapor... good throat hit etc. does it satiate my need to light up a real cigarette? second, it can't taste like cra*. third, a nice flavor is a bonus...

LOL. I have had several people tell me Halo Belgian Cocoa stinks. I agree with them actually. It's tasty stuff but the aroma is not all that great.

Chocolat bar taste can be done.....and its easy using TFA flavorings. I have two different chocolat bar recipies in the DIY forums and they are spot on.....and yes, they taste just like the name s of the candy bars names..... ( one of them was not originated from me, just tweaked to use all TFA flavorings)

Almond joy is one and Butterfinger is the other...

Im wondering if steeping chocolats for too long makes them taste bad ? I make mine and vape immediatly.... I dont have any that is very old.

Can you point me to those recipes? TIA :) I so need a good chocolate, the two I have aren't as close as I think they should be...

Chocolate vapes should be re-named according to food labeling laws. They always remind me of foods that are labeled "chocolaty," which don't really contain chocolate, just the closest thing they can come up with that sorta kinda maybe might remind you of chocolate.

I pretty much avoid these vapes, because I figure the odds aren't good.
