I have the m401 black tie. I have read a lot and done research but I still think something isn't right. Most of the posters are having such great experiences but mine is fair at best. :(

The charger, I have a usb that plugs into the standard plug then into the wall. The one that connects to the battery blinks green / red (all the time). The one w/ the 2 prongs, stays red all the time. Is that normal?? I've tried unplugging the usb and connecting it directly to my computer. Same result. Blinking green / red. Does it ever just turn green when it's done charging? I let the first battery charge for about 6 hours. Took it off, put the other on over night. They still do the same blinking thing. When I drag, it lights for a second but fades pretty quickly.

The taste in general is weird. Maybe I need to block 2 holes like you suggested? I tried adding the liquid but got a mouth full - that was so terrible. I think that was because it was in the pocket of my purse and that caused it to spill over a bit?

The carts are menthol medium (I believe) and the liquid is janty mint. But honestly, it seems VERY weak to me. Like airy. I don't know what all this vapor/smoke everyone talks about is either. I get a bit...but nothing major at all. There is no throat hit at all.

Am I just doing something wrong?

Charge battery 8 hours the first time
Charge battery 2 hours on subsequent charges

The blinking seems to be common. Mostly green, occasionally changing to red and back to green seems to be some sort of maintenance charge and tells me the battery is done charging.

You have to double hit the 401 to get it started when the atomizer is getting broken in. If you continuously drag on the 401, the battery cut off will kick in and you have to let it rest for a bit. 20 seconds I think.

Adding juice? You do have a blank cartridge that you opened up or a used pre-loaded cartridge that has a small cup with wicking material in it? The 401's ship with a cover that is over the atomizer. It looks like a cartridge, but there is no cup in it. If you put juice in it it will leak everywhere. A properly topped up cartridge should not leak.

Check out the excellent video by Spikey. Do take the time as almost every tip in existence is on this video.

I'm rather new myself but I also use the M401.

1. The red light always stays on on the part you plug in..mine does anyway.

2. The lights do blink red/green on the park you srew your battery into. It should go green, and stay green, when fully charged however.

3. 1st charge on a battery is between 8-12 hrs. Mine were ready shortly after 8 hrs. After the first charge it should only take 2-4hrs to charge again.

4. The light fading. I'm finding that 401s are a bit "weird". I noticed that if I take a puff and drag on it consistantly at the same rate the LED doesnt stay lit. It almost seems like when you take a hit you need to start out slow and then drag harder until you get your fill. It's just one of those "don't smoke it like a cigarette" things you have to get used to.

5. Taste is weird! It will be for a bit. Whenever you get a new atomizer take it and blow down the side that screws into the battery. Just make sure you have a cloth on the other end since tons of icky stuff will come shooting out. When atomizers are shipped they have something on them to keep them "moist". People here call it primer fluid..you do NOT want to vape it. It makes everything taste weird..and horrible. After you blow off the primer take a few puffs and blow away the smoke without inhaling. The primer will burn off eventually.

6. Unless you are refilling the cart (and if you overfill it will leak and you will get a mouthfull of juice - this can also happen if the battery gets low) I tend to drip a bit of glycerin on my atomizer (only a drop or two and don't let it get down into your battery). The extra VG on the atomizer produces more smoke and imo enhances the flavor.

Hope this helps! I'm still learning as I go myself :D
