Here lately every time I sit down to spin out some Clapton wire I've made some nasty looking messes. I decided to just order some pre-Clapton-ed wire, but now I'm waiting for delivery. Any suggestions for twisted builds that will come close to that "feel" while I wait? I generally like 0.3 Ohm Clapton's on my 150w boxes. I have kanthal in 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, and 22. I can try anything, but I've been having bad luck so simple is nice. I did throw together a 0.3 "vanilla" microcoil in 24... flavor is fine, but it heats so fast I am going through juice like mad. I also have 24 gauge SS 316L it's nice, but takes a ton of coil to hit my ohm target. Any help for a what to try now?

When in doubt ask for help! Cheers!

Twisted ia easy, but flavor isnt as good. Parallels give good flavor and vapor. What wires were you using to do a clapton? 24g core with 32g claptoned is really easy to do. I assume youve been on youtube and watched alot of builds right? Helix is good too, check out twisted messes channel for that. Honestly i would just try paralleled stainless, from what i hear stainless has better flavor. Maybe twist some stainless and kanthal?

If your having trouble making the claptons you could make yourself a Bobbin holder which holds your spool of clapton wire, here is a vid i found of how to make one similar to mine

Here is a pic of mine, i used one continuous piece of about 220mm, the wire i used is 2mm thick, the beads you can pick up of ebay and the straw part is part of a cotton bud with cotton wrapped around it then a bit of superglue to hold all together.

what you can do is let the tube from the bobbin holder ride underneath your wire/s your claptoning and it will push itself along the wire/s.
One of the tubes in my bobbing holder has a slit that has been worn in to it by the wire and it is by far the best at doing tight clean clapton as the wire doesnt wiggle in the tube, not that it wiggles anyway but ..

if you are using 150 watt regulated boxes, you don't have to be inflexible about an ohm target

you should also get steam engine mod-range tab to find the sweetspot ohms for your particular mod

On youtube there's a guy who shows you how to use a bic pen (with the pen cartridge removed to hold the smaller wire) this is a great hack for claptons. I use this method for perfect claptons every time.
I feed my smaller guage wire through a ball needle fill stem and put it right agony the core in the drill I can Clapton full speed in an 18v dewalt and make 3 feet of wire in 2 minutes give it a shot it's worth a try and basically fool proof!

That's nice! I may add this to my Clapton arsenal !
