*edit I changed the name of this post to better describe my question
Hey everyone I'll try to organize my thoughts here but have a lot rolling around & trying to figure out what to tweak. I have a crown tank with a.25 coil in it. Started out using it with a kbox 200 at 80w & was very happy. I wanted a more compact setup so I got the kanger topbox combo & used the rebuildable at .46 ohm & 30-40w. Not as big of a kick but a very tasty & thick cloud. I had to give that one to my wife when hers broke so I got the smok tfrta & sigelei spark. The big smok tank was too much for the spark & I was getting dry/burnt hits from the crown (much better in tc mode) so I switched them. The tfrta is awesome on the 200 box at .18 ohm & 100w. The soft ramp on the spark keeps hits from being dry but I'm not getting good hits at all vs my buddy's with the same coil. I don't know if it's a bad coil but it hasn't been as long as they usually last. I was thinking about getting the rebuildable but have read that it restricts air flow & that's the last thing I want to do. I've also thought about trying a .5 coil as the kanger was tighter but hit really good in that resistance range. Less battery & juice consumption would be a nice bonus from the lower wattage. I have gotten away from vaping the last couple months because it hasn't been satisfying & I'd really like to get back to where I was.
I changed the ramp by adjusting joules & it's better than it was but I still feel like I'm missing something

I've got a Crown 1 that I use on an RX200 regulated mod. I'm quite happy with both the flavor and vapor production. I don't use the Temp Control setting, just wattage with either the 0.5 ohm or 0.25 ohm coils at 30 watts. I consume about 4 - 5 ml per day.

I'm rather surprised you're not satisfied with the Crown. Have you been properly priming your new coils? Have you experimented with adjusting the air control ring?

Not sure if you're aware of this tip: Drop a cotton tip applicator (QTip) down the mouthpiece and into the coil from time to time. You'll be surprised at all of the gunk you'll get out.

Thinking about trying out the.5 but my local shop only has .25 so I can't get an individual to try. Can you tell me how they compare?
To be perfectly honest, I can't tell a difference between the two resistances. I started out using the 0.5 when the tank was new. Asked for 0.5 coils for it at my vape shop, and didn't realize until I got home that they sold me the 0.25 coils by mistake. I have no preference.

So I went down to my local shop & the boss was there. I usually go after work so I don't get to see him much but he's always very helpful. Like I said before they usually carry .25 but were waiting on the order. He did have a couple .5s someone changed their mind about so I got them thrown in with a bottle of juice. I also watched a guy on YouTube with a very detailed break in process for the coils so that's something to try. I had been soaking the top of the cotton, hitting the holes & getting the top again after 15 minutes or so then doing half a tank around 30 & half a little higher. The video I saw had a lot of dry pulls & quick puffs every 5w
