Okay so here's my first posted question on the site.
I introduced myself already giving a rundown of my progression in vaping. I started the first day with an ego batt, 510 atty, and two used cartos. The second day I started using the egoT system. A few days later I was off the egoT and on to single and dual coil LR cartos(boge and smoktech). Saturday I got two of the Vapage hybrid atty's(1.5ohm). I have been trying to only use one of them so I could break it in and become familiar with it. I have been vaping Pink Spot RY8 18mg in it. So here is my issue.. I have not been able to get as good of an amount of vapor from the atty as I can consistently get from the same juice in a LR carto. I'm also having difficulty identifying that the flavor is any better in the atty. Combine that with the fact that I'm blowing through more juice and getting less satisfaction, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or have I tainted my expectations of the atty based on my experience with the carto's. I will also note that I have no problem dripping, and I really like the look of how short the atty is compared to a carto.

The hybrid atty on my V3 with a steel ming drip tip looks sweet.:2cool:

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Dripping is almost an art; most people will agree 2 - 3 drops on the bridge of the atty (or 1-2 drops in the ceramic cup of a de-bridged atty) will work every time. I've been dripping for awhile...typically when I'm at home relaxing. On the go and at work I use a carto for the convenience. With the atty's I use (Joye attys), I hit the bridge with a couple drops and another off the bridge. Never a false start.

I use an eGo 1000mah batt with standard 510 attys (some with bridges, some sans bridge). There is, to me, a slight but discernable improvement in taste when dripping over using a carto. (Note: I typically use Boge LR cartos). Notice the operative word (again, at least to me, is "slight"), and I typically don't use a carto for more that three or four days, so they don't have much of a chance to go off in taste. Also, another variable would be the juice. I've noticed dripping iVape.net's Sweet Caroline tastes better than using it in a carto, buth their Vanilla tastes better in a carto.

On a de-bridged atty, I can get massive amounts of vapor, even compared to the Resurrectors, which are fog machines in their own right.

Anyway, I'm getting long-winded and I see that your eyes are glazing over, so I'll stop now. :)

Ha! You noticed.. ;)
I'm kidding.
Well I am not giving up on atty's just yet. I plan to try a couple different 510 variations, 306's, and the HH357. In the end I will come to a concluded preference I'm sure.
The atty I'm using is bridge less and I do just two drops in the cup. I don't seem to get nether great of vapor production. All that I've read has lead me to believe it should be better. I'm committed to getting good vapes off this atty.

I find when using the same juice with different methods, the perfect amount of wetness is what gives the best vape. Too dry gives burning tastes or singeing, too wet causes the atty or coil to be too cool or at worst flooded. When a fresh carto is perfectly saturated - not too dry and not too damp, and the liquid is wicking well to the coil, they just maintain a perfect vape for you.

And new attys can take a bit of vaping to get working their best. When all else fails I blow out the atty and start again. But I am no expert at dripping. I usually vape thicker juices I don't want in cartos (like 50/50) and they make so much vapor that even my amateur dripping usually works. I actually haven't tried dripping on 510 yet but I bought some "Expert 510 atomizer" described as having a huge bridge and producing a lot of vapor - I plan to try that one. I've used 306's (2.5ohm) and 901 SR attys to drip and would like to try an 801 Stealth w/ 510 connection too (or just get a 510 to 801 adapter and use 510 with a BE112 atty).

Note - you could always have a bum atty too, or wick poorly placed etc.

I thought that possible so I have started using the second atty that came in the pair. I am in the not so satisfying process of breaking that one in as well.
Thanks for your input

Some threads

BTW - I see people describing these as bottom feeder attys. Is that what you bought? if so, dripping is the opposite of what they want.
The pair I purchased are the ones for dripping. Not the bottom feeders. And thanks for the links. I have done a little reading in those threads before now. I read a lot of good things about the updated versions and so I got a pair. I suppose it might take more time to get them to optimal performance.

Ah rooski...I feel your pain. I remember it well. If your situation is anything like mine was then you probably do have tainted expectations. When i started vaping I used an atty. Why? Well, because everything I read while researching vaping told me that atties were the way to go. The subtle nuances of the juice will be revealed to you. The flavor will pop like a cork on new years eve. Women and old dogs will both wag their tails when you enter a room if you vape with an atty.

I have said it before and will more than likely say it again....the best day of my vaping career was the day I turned my back on atomizers and embraced the carto. I honestly get more flavor...they are cheaper and less hassely ( not a real word is it) and I know I'm going to get a week or so out of it instead of a day or two...or an hour or two.

Just my thoughts, but your the one vaping for yourself ....do what feels and tastes and works right for you.

IMO dripping is a preference. I prefer cartos with a tank. I can't stand putting drops on an atty every few puffs. Plus dripping and driving is a very dangerous combo. The only way I would consider dripping is by using a feeder system, like a bottom feeder or top feeder pv. Everyone has their own way to vape. As far as the pros go, vapor production and flavor is maxed out and no filler issues. I have a VV box mod that I love, I can find the sweet spot for my juice and carto combo.

Well my experience with cartos has definitely been positive. In fact, if I were to have started with the two atty's I have now, I probably wouldn't have been so satisfied and I might have given up. I just get intrigued watching videos on utube with the likes of GG and seeing him get massive clouds of vapor out of an atty. Luckily, I still have plenty of cartos.

Friends don't let friends drip and drive! :p
