I have started getting headaches in the last week or so and I'm not sure what to attribute them to(E-cigs or something else). I found E-cigs 3-4 months after quitting analogs(cold turkey-a pack a day or more smoker for 50+ years) and I love them! I use PG based E liquids and today I will be ordering some VG based to try. Are there other liquid bases besides these two? Is there a difference in purity of either one of these bases (PG or VG) among the various suppliers? I have been using 24ml juice cause I am very fond of nicotine. I mostly vape the tobacco flavors-RY4 and desert ship from Cigeasy. I would welcome recommendations for VG based E liquid suppliers. On a side note, what are snus? I read a little of the health-safety-e-smoking forum list of symptoms thread but it goes on for over 100 pages. It's tough to get thru all the info on this forum, I have spent hours reading here and have probably only scratched the surface. How many books would this forum fill?

Thanks for lookin'

headache almost always = nicotine

Some other possible causes - dehydration (vaping can be drying), chewing on the ecig, muscle strain from using auto batteries

But when I get a headache it is from vaping too much and too much nicotine builds up. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and messes with your blood pressure. It is possible that vapor from 100% PG liquids may be absorbed faster since it seems to let through nicotine's TH and irritation better so maybe the nicotine contacts the skin better. You could try a blend like 70PG/30VG (or for cartos I would use 80PG/20VG for good carto life). Or get some lower nicotine juice for when you are vaping a lot, or just have more self control (I have little, so I leave my ecigs in another room so I have to get up and go vape)

I have to agree with Bardic about dropping the nic level. You may not need that high of a nicotine strength, especially since you haven't smoked in months before taking up vaping.

There are other bases you can use for nicquid; PGA (Pure Grain Alcohol) PEG400 and plain old water in addition to VG, but PG and VG are the main bases. Most people use a combination of those two and the percentages vary depending on what the person likes and the hardware they're using. I use a 60PG/40VG or a 50/50 mix. I like the thick vapor these two mixes provide and the sweetness of the VG.

But have you been using 24mg of nic since you've quit smoking? I agree with everything said about dropping the nic level, but is also a little bit strange that it only happened now.. Have you started using a new liquid/ or supplier?

Regarding the liquid bases, I generally use, only PG or 70PV/30Vg in tobacco flavours and when I'm using fruity or a sweeter flavour I raise the VG level..

Hope you get better ;)

You could try to reduce the nicotine or try some VG in your juice. But I assume you're in your late 60's? I don't want to be an alarmist, but you should bring this to your doctors attention. I'm dealing with a health issue right now with my mom and she had minor symptoms ages ago of something she overlooked. Try the other stuff but see a doctor.

I got my nicotine down to 4mg. 10-12mg is a very nice level, still has decent TH, especially with some juices. I won't hurt to try some 10-12mg.

I hate nic headaches. I would get some of the other symptoms too like cold fingertips and rapid or irregular heartbeat. I dropped my nic a step at a time and that made it easier to vape as much as I wanted at times and not get over-nicced symptoms.

I did read in the health-safety-e-smoking forum that people got headaches from mostly PG but also VG based E liquid.

I do drink a lot of coffee so dehydration is a possibility. I don't chew on my E-cig. I use a GOGO Pro which has a manual battery.
I don't know the correlation between nicotine absorption by the body with analogs and Ecigs? How many analog cigs equal a 3ml Go Cart? I could go out today and buy a pack of camels and smoke the whole pack today and not get a headache(been there-done that).

I went to see the doctor this morning. My blood pressure was normal and I was vaping on the drive over. I didn't start with E-cigs until 2-3 weeks ago.

I'm glad to hear it! I never had any symptoms people speak about. I know I was getting more nicotine smoking (and a bunch of other stuff) than vaping. Like I said, I had headaches when I first started but I'm sure it was withdraw. When I did lower nicotine I vaped more and I think the flavorings made me feel sick to my stomach.

Give it a shot. Order a juice with a pg/vg mix and reduce the nic level and see how you feel. It won't hurt.
