Indeed, since I've been vaping I have found that it really helps me with focus/concentration issues (being an adult with ADD) as well as reducing seasonal depression symptoms I seem to get every winter. Best of all, no more having to stand outside in below zero temps to smoke a cig while my fingers turn blue.

I will continue to vape until I can no longer do so...

Interesting --- but.

When the smoking bans started to excelerate I just knew big pharma had quite an interest & their buddies, the psychiatrists who just can't wait to come up with the latest "ism" and get drugs made to handle it. To me, this fact is glowing in that article disguised as showing the good benefits. Since 50% of "smokers aka nicotine users) us are now labeled with "mental problems" I shudder. Maybe when I was a kid 90% had mental problems and all the drugs have handled that? I don't think so.

Sorry, getting on my high horse here. Not tryng to upset anyone -- and have also had no doubts that there were benefits to nicotine that would be discovered-------many "big bans" have almost all reversed after a few years in one way or the other.

Examples -- Wine is good for you; coffee has a lot of benefits ; Cyclomates cause cancer; Margarine isn't better for you though it was totally sold as Healthy alternative most of my life; Dark Chocolate has anti-oxidants........

This isn't something that is just being discovered. It's been known by both doctors and healers for a very long time. My gp told me 18 years ago that if he didn't know haw harmful cigs were he would tell me to smoke because nicotine was the absolute best drug for me to take for my ADD and that I was self medicating.

If you want to go much further back think about why it was the pipes the Native Americans used to smoke tobacco and other herbals was know as a medicine pipe.

I found it hilarious that the pharmas were trying to figure out how to create drugs from nicotine:

"The challenge is for scientists to find a way to derive medications from nicotine..."

Really? Is that such a challenge? Must it be gels and pills that you obtain by presctiption?

How about the patch, which was used in the Alzheimers' studies and is already available OTC?

Or...um...I dunno...vaping?!

How about an alternative thread on the effects on the body of nicotine .. ?? While I won't argue that it has some medicinal properties, I think you'll find most, if not all Doctors discourage it's use in any form currently ..

Most of my Doctors are young and up to date on the most modern medical science today and they are for me using e-cigs with nicotine in them. Ill belive them over some old people here.

As I said on another thread, my Cardiologist is happy I've quit the analogs .. and he's glad I'm using a PV .. but he's right when he cautions me about the effects of nicotine on the body .. young or old doctors are not going to matter .. if nothing else, why do you think surgeons tell you to quit at least 2 weeks before surgery .. ??

Let's not try and fool ourselves into thinking that nicotine is GOOD for you .. that's like going back 40 years ..

They tell you to quit smoking (in other words combustion part of smoking) -

Stop smoking before your operation. It is best if you quit at least 2 weeks prior to surgery, but any period of not smoking will help. If you quit smoking your lungs will be in better shape for the operation and you will have an easier time adjusting to the anesthesia. After surgery, your lungs will be able to resume their normal function with less effort. Your risk of infection will be reduced and, most obviously, you won’t cough as much (and coughing can really hurt after some kinds of surgery).

Although you are correct, my Doctor stated that nicotine constricts your bloodvessels and makes any operation more risky ..
