Let me start by saying that 555 state express was my first true love in a liquid. When I think about that flavor it literally brings back so many great memories... Like a dear old friend.
That being said, I haven't seen my old friend since 2009. I'm not sure why we haven't seen each other in so long, and I've found others since.... But good old 555 has always been on my mind.
I've thought about buying a few different brands of concentrates to try and bring this flavor back, but have always doubted that it would be my true 555. I didn't want to tarnish the memories with a liquid that was disappointing, because 555 has never been that to me.
So I bit the bullet, bought some HC 3&5 (555). Then started researching a starting point for percentages, to my surprise I came across a lot of threads that said HC changed their recipe and how the old 555 was better.
I immediately went to sniff the unopened bottle of HC 555.... It wasn't what I remembered. Way different. I initially got upset but said screw it, I want to know how off this stuff is so I mixed myself up a small batch.
.3ml hc3&5(555)
.3ml 60mg nicotine vg
2.4 ml vg
Gave me 3 mls of 6mg 555
The resulting liquid was pretty clear, I decided to let it steep for a few hours and see what happens. It started changing colors on me pretty quick, so I decided to try it out. After a wick change of course.
It all came back to me with that first puff. This stuff IS good after only a few hours. I'm sure it will get even better over time.... But a larger batch will be needed to determine that. But holy cow I'm impressed. I can imagine a couple flavors to add to this to make it even better, but I want to know how it will be with a full steep before I start fiddling with it.... So far no fiddling is needed.
