I have been vaping since March 1, 2011 and have not had an analog since. I have also had no ill side effects I think until now. On Sunday January 15, 2012 I developed an eye condition which my doctor believes to the Optical Neuritis in my Right Eye. It is basically without going into detal inflammation of the optic nerve. What I wanted to know is if anyone has heard of someone getting his from vaping or someone having some sort of unusual side effect involving their eye sight from the pg/vg? Thank you in advance.

I doubt it would be pg/vg because they are in products that are used daily by a lot of people (soaps, shampoos, skin care, foods and ect...) and you probably have been exposed to them a lot in your life already. Just reading about your condition quickly it looks to be kind of a MS type thing..it says a 20-30% of people who have your condition go on to develop MS too. There are other causes also it says. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor or a specialist about the issue really. I wouldn't think if you smoked and never had an issue you would have that kind of issue with e cigs since they contain a few of the same things as cigs do.

As a health care professional, I would recommend that you disclose your smoking and vaping history to your physician. Let him or her know that you have been vaping VG/PG just so he or she is aware.

As far as I have read VG/PG are relatively safe substances as ChrispyCritter mentioned, and I have not come across any credible research that states that vaporizing these substances cause any adverse effects. Also, from my knowledge of the condition, the it can be caused by many things, and may not neccesarily indicate the development of MS. Bacterial, viral and fungal infections could easily be the cause as well as certain autoimmune disorders.

Regardless, in order to receive the most comprehensive care, I think it would be a good idea to let your doctor know. I hope everything works out for you and feel free to PM me if you have any other health related questions that I could help you with!

It honestly has been driving me crazy. Not too worried about the MS issue due to nobody having disease in blood line and less that 30% of people who get optical neuritis get MS. I just thought that their may have been some chemical used in the production pg/vg that may have attributed to the condition. Has anyone complained of adverse reactions to pg/vg in regards to their eye sight.
