I wanted to share my story with you. I had smoked for 43 years of my life, when I bought my first e cig it was for use in places that would not let me smoke.

Surprise after 2 days of use, I stopped smoking analogues altogether. So I gave up smoking by accident. :D

What I wanted to share mainly was something that has happened to me, that seems to only have one explanation. I have worn glasses for driving for the last 5 years, previously to that time, I could just get away with not needing them for driving, but did use glasses for long vision and reading.

I switched to vaping about 60 days ago. Three weeks ago I noticed that my eyes were hurting me at the end of the day. I thought this was too much reading of this forum LOL. I rested my eyes and tried a lot of different mixes of juice hoping to track down my problem with sore eyes. I had blurred vision after I had worn my glasses for driving and had taken them off.

Finally today I went and got my eyes checked at the eye doctors and was amazed to be told that I no longer need to wear glasses for driving and long vision and that my reading vision glasses had also improved and needed to be changed. The blurred vision was because I was using glasses that were trying to correct my now almost perfect 20/20 vision!

Now I cannot say that stopping smoking has been responsible for this change, The eye doctor could also not say that for certain, but that is all that I can find that has changed in the last two months. I would like to say that this is only a coincidence, but that seems a rather rare one to happen.

So I am fitter, healthier, can smell and taste better, sleep better and now, I can also SEE better since stopping smoking :D

Anyone else have a similar story to share?

The only other benefit I've really notice, other than the obvious ones when one quits smoking... Because of all the sweet flavors I vape, I don't graze the cookie jar near as much. I'm sure that'll pay off somewhere down the line. :D

Congrats on the vision clearing up. Maybe I should have waited till after quitting smoking to see if I needed that lasek I got 6 years ago. Might have have saved me $4600. Then again, I doubt it...my vision was 20/800.

Hmmm, never really understood the 20/system, but I was around -7.5 -8.0 with an astigmatism of about 3.5 in each eye. Did LASIK and had perfect vision. That was 2002. In 2010 I actually had to get glasses again. Started working a job where I stared at the computer all the time. Tho of late I've noticed issues focusing up close with my glasses. Of course that somewhat means bifocals maybe. :\

I have good eye coverage with work, so I will have it sorted sooner or later. Just that I've only had these glasses since around November.

Granted, I also have a "lifetime enhancement" for my LASIK. I just didn't want to get zapped again just to see if my eyes were going to settle down again.

I bought my first kit for the same reason and ended up quitting my 30+ year habit instantly.

I did notice after a week or so that my eyes FELT better and I had to wear my glasses in less situations. I've only had glasses a little over a year. I know I'm nearsighted and have astigmatism and all that but couldn't begin to tell you what that means.

My next checkup should be right around the corner probably so I'll be real interested to see how that goes. I would swear lately that I see a little better but can't really confirm without the professional help. I would also swear that a good amount of my grey hair has darkened back up. Of course my wife says I better get my eyes checked when I bring that up.

My vision used to be 20/40 when I was younger. After one good bomb blast basically destroying my ears my vision improved to "Eagle Eye." It was explained away as losing a significant amount of one sense can improve others.

So if quitting smoking improves senses like taste and smell, it seems odd that vision would improve. Maybe the increase of oxygen? Decrease of the thousands of poisons?

I'm stumped and very curious now.

Whatever it is, congratulations to you for both quitting smoking and better vision.

Congratulations on everything! Now you have me wondering what causes the vision phenomena, I've always had great vision(20/10 when I was 20)but I'm a welder by trade and have been exposed to massive amounts of smoke and steel particles for 15 years. That's how I rationalized my smoking habit, more toxins are released from a single welding rod then from a whole pack of cigs. The last eye exam I had put my vision at 20/11-left eye and 20/13-right eye and my doctor figures by the time I'm 60-65 years old my eyes will probably be around 20/20(assuming no injuries occur), but I have noticed over the last few weeks since I started vaping full time that my vision doesn't blur as often when I'm tired or tear up like they used to. It makes me think that the smoke created from my own cigarettes(and work) has been doing small amounts of damage to my eyes(like when you get smoke in them and they sting like crazy) or perhaps its just the increased blood flow and blood oxygen levels from not smoking that makes the difference. It will sure be nice if the medical community gets around to doing some more studies on vaping compared to smoking analogs, I love reading all the positive result from others on the forum... Brings me even more hope for the future! Happy vaping all!

I've read in the past that smoking does affect vision. My GoogleFu is weak today and I can't really seem to find anything concrete on it, but it's possible that it's one of the reversible effects. Next time I get my eyes looked at, I will ask the MD. I have a family history of macular degeneration and retinal detachment, so I always end up with a full battery of tests done, in addition to just a normal puff of air. My eye doctor has a nice scan of my eyes from November of last year. When I go in this year we can look at any differences.

The 20 system, is a comparison system of sight at a 20 foot distance. That means... When I was 20/800, I had to be at 20 feet to clearly see what normal people can see clearly at 800 feet. Normal people, being those who have 20/20. If you have 20/15 vision, than your vision is better than normal. My dad is 20/15 in one eye, and 20/10 in the other. It's no wonder he always knew what I was about to do...he can probably see into the future.

I too have lifetime enhancements. I do need to get in their and have my eyes checked to make sure I'm still good. Though, I can still see clearly as far as I can tell.

My story is very similar, 40+ year smoker, quit by accident in 2 days. I was needing new glasses but after a bit of a rough time on my finances I couldn't afford a $500 pair, so I was getting along with what I had when I started vaping. About a month later I noticed I was able to read street signs from a distance, I hadn't been able to read them unless I was within spitting distance of them for quite a while. The improvement seems to have leveled off after about a month but I'm happy with what I got. I'll never have 20/20 vision, but it's nice to know they stopped getting worse and that Coke bottle glasses aren't in my immediate future.

No one believes me when I tell them my eyesight improved since I quit, so now I have someone else who experienced the same thing. Thanks for bringing up the subject.

Congrats. I smoked for 25 years analog free now for 45 days. I also wear bosses hope that happens to me. Nevertheless I am no longer coughing. Can't remember the last time I coughed and no more wheezing. It's great. Again congrats.

Wearing bosses sounds like it could be stressful on the back. Here's hoping that vaping does indeed cure you of that.:lol:
