"A SUBSTANCE said to give the feeling of booze without the health risks is being developed by controversial ex Government drugs tsar Professor David Nutt. The solution is added to liquid. It is claimed anyone using it will get the alcohol high without the hangover or deadly liver damage. There is even an antidote which would allow a user to DRIVE home after taking it. Here, the scientist - recently sacked as chairman of the independent Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs after saying ecstasy is safer than alcohol - gives the reason for the innovation......"

He was nutt sacked?

Oh dear.

 Hehe! Still, I think the guy is legitimate. The e-cig has eliminated my tobacco use but not the fun of smoking (yes yes I'm still a nic addict, different debate). How cool would it be to remove the harmful effects of alcohol in a similar way? As a (previously) heavy smoker and a current heavy drinker I'd be thrilled to be downing an e-drink with and e-cig.

Not if it was safe and legalized, and I guess you'd have to have taken the 'sober pill' before the sobriety test.

If it was safe and legalized maybe but benzodiazepines are a staple in drug tests considering it is Valium and Xanax. I am sure the antidote while takes away the effects, doesnt not remove the benzodiazepines from your body. Kind of like how after you are high from whatever drug doesnt mean it is out of your system i.e. marijuana lasts a few hours but can be found in your body from 7-30 days!!

Here's the Synthetic Alcohol
Very interesting but sounds like random drugs test would fail because of the drugs to create the effect.

I agree very interesting to have an synthetic ETOH. It would save so many lives in auto accidents, decrease domestic violence etc,
If it ever becomes mainstream then possibly it will be acceptable in a random drug screen. We can only hope. :)
