Just watched a YouTube video by an experienced vapors. Upon buying any new battery, he immediately takes of the thin plastic covering with the labeling, and heat shrinks them.

He claims this is important to do for ultimate safety.

Now, I've done this before to a battery which outer plastic peeled off and was VERY impressed with the results. I bought the heat shrink wrap from fasttech.

What do you guys think of this? Do you take off the outer plastic upon buying and rewrap them with slightly thicker and more durable shrink wrap too?

if they are nicked where metal is showing I remove the wrapper...then re-wrap. I've found that the FT wrappers can make the batteries a little fatter. In some of my mods its is a squeeze to get them in after the re-wrap. So I don't re-wrap unless I need to.

No need to throw the baby out with the bath water. If the battery is still holding a good charge of course I re-wrap. If its an old battery...then why bother.
