Hekp with filling a new cartridge?

Hi All,
I'm new here obviously, and I'm a 2 pack a day Marlboro light smoker. I've been smoking for about 40 years it's time to quit.
I've been reading a lot of threads here. and I just can't seem to find exactly how to fill a new cartridge. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has asked this but I'll be damned if I can find it.
I bought and have received the Titanium Riva 510 starter kit along with 6 small bottles 5ML E Liquid - VG 14 mg from Liberty Flights.
So far I've charged both battery's that came with the starter kit, for the 8 hours as they say to do, and read here in the Tutorial how to blow out the primer out of the atomizer with the step by step instructions - Thanks for that BTW because I had no idea about that! Then in the next step in the Tutorial it reads to install the pre-filled cartridge, which I did not get, because I read it was better filling your own.
Now I'm ready to add the e-liquid into the cartridge, I just don't know how much to add, and if there is some sort method for best results? If anyone could point me in the right direction on how to go about this?
Thanks so much!!!

Preston

filling a Joye 510 electronic cigarette cartridge.m4v - YouTube is a vid showing how to fill a cartridge. However, noone really uses cartridges. Atomizers tend to be used for dripping with a drip tip. Cartomizers are better for on the go use.

Lots of places sell drip tips (you'll want one even for cartomizers, far superior in the mouth than the end of a cartomizer).

I'd recommend Boge LR (2.0 ohm) cartomizers. They can be purchased at crystalclearvaping.com 15 for $20 and I believe free shipping.

Filling cartridges is pretty simple. Use a pair of tweezers to remove the filler material in the cartridge, then fill the cartridge about 3/4 full and reinsert the filler material. Optimally, you will want the filler to appear wet with no liquid pooling at the top. Dab any excess off with a paper towel or add a few drops if necessary. You can also simply drip right onto the filler material while it's in the cartridge, but its a little harder to get it to absorb that way. Be sure to add a few drops of liquid directly on the atomizer before putting the cartridge on, this will help you to avoid burning the atomizer dry.

As you use your ecig, the cartridge will become empty and you will usually be able to just drip on the filler material to fill it back up. Eventually you will want to clean the filler material by placing it under hot running water and then squeezing dry with a paper towel.

Like others have said, there are other options you will probably want to move onto, but there is nothing wrong with starting with the cartridges that came with your kit.

To fill the cartridges the first thing I do is replace the white filler material with blue foam that you can get at most pet stores that sell fish supplies. The blue foam wicks better and doesn't ruin the flavor of your juice. But you probably don't have any blue foam yet so what you want to do is take out the filler material and drip enough juice into the empty cartridge until about half full then replace the filler material then drip juice on the filler material until it won't absorb anymore. You don't want it to pool up on the filler, just be kind of soggy. Then put the cartridge on the atomizer and vape. When the flavor starts to get weak or taste burnt then it's time to refill.

If you are using a thick juice the new filler material may not absorb very well. Just grab the material with tweezers and push it down into the juice to get it wet and then pull it back out to where it is flush or just a tad below the rim of the cart. This has work for me better than just dripping drops on the filler and waiting for it to soak to the bottom.

This is a cartridge you use on an atomizer right? Those are called cartridges aka carts.

If your atomizer is new and tastes bad that is primer - * blow it out into a tissue, drip 4 drops liquid on the atomizer bridge /\, wait 10+ minutes for it to soak down since you got VG. Vape that mostly off without inhaling. Repeat from *. Repeat from * again and see if the vapor tastes OK for inhaling.

When vaping VG liquid - if youvape faster than it wicks, you may get burnt tastes. You may need to ... a few drops of distilled water to the juice bottle to thin the juice.

If you are using a cartomizer (combined 1-piece cart and atomizer) that screw onto the battery, that is different (and VG will be difficult to use in those - too thick).

Wow, when I first saw this thread I thought "this must be about a 3 year old thread".
NO ONE USES CARTS anymore!!! What a waste of a perfectly good atomizer! Get a drip tip, and toss the carts in the round file.

If you want to do that stile of vaping get CARTOMIZERS instead of atomizers and cartridges. Learn how to fill the cartos using the condom method, and learn how to freshen them by dripping

I still use atomizers and cartridges, just have to know how to fill them. I use a syringe and run it down the side next to the filler, then fill from the bottom up and no air pockets and a full cartridge. With dripping it full you may need to stick a toothpick down the side to release trapped air.

Oh I know how, the question is "why would I want to". They are so .... well .... 20th century

My personal opinion is that manufacturers/distributors do new people a disservice by putting atomizers and cartridges in starter kits instead of cartomizers.

Cartridge - you drip juice into the stuffing until the top looks damp but not a puddle.

If you have an ecig with a cart that slides OVER the atomizer, then you may need to push up a tiny juice cup to add liquid. If you have this kind of cart, take it off the atomizer and stick an unbent paperclip into the mouth-hole to push up the tiny juice cup. Add liquid to the stuffing as described above. Make sure the stuffing is positioned at the top edge of the cup. Now you need to get the cup back down into the mouthpiece WITHOUT pressing on the stuffing. If the cart came with a silicone plug, that plug can probably be used to push the juice cup down. If it did not, then try pressing the unbent paperclip leg against the inner wall of the mouthpiece and the end of the juice cup and slide the juice cup down. Do not use the atomizer to press the juice cup down - it would probably push the stuffing in too deep.

Eventually the white stuffing get gross and tastes bad. AT that point you can try to separately wash and dry the cart and stuffing, refluff it and put if back in. Of you can try to replace it with a special blue foam. If you have a 510 use these precut pieces.

if you think you have smaller carts than 510 (if you have a push-up just cup you probably do) then you can cut those down.

I cut foam 2/3 to 3/4 the inner length of the juice cup, a tiny bit wider (just enough to help keep it fromt slipping in, not so much that it presses the foam holes closed) and I taper it a bit on the inner end. With foam, on a full fill you remove the foam (a smooth unbent paper clip helps). Fill the juice cup 1/2 way with juice (2/3 if you are daring - the juice may leak), insert the tapered end of the foam, press it down into the liquid to wet the foam. Reposition the foam at the top edge of the juice cup. Top off with 1-3 drops or whatever it needs to look damp. While vaping, you can just top it off with juice as needed. When topping off doesn't help, it's time for a new full fill.

And note - if you are going to use atomizers for all of your having then you should have 1 or 2 spare atomizers. Atomizers can die. Also you will find it necessary to wash your atomizer occasionally and it helps to have a clean one to switch to.

Drummer, just point one of those 5 ml drip top bottles from LF at a standing empty cart, filler end up, and squeeze 7-8 drops in. I use a wire/bent paper clip to help the juice go down the cart. The filled cart should look slushy but not like a lake. I still use carts, mostly with blue foam, holds more juice than the white polyfill, less refills. Once you get going, you can decide if you want to use carts or cartomizers later.

I agree with you TJ, especially for newbies as myself that don't know any better! I never heard of cartomizers before this thread, and I think 99 percent of the posts that I have read on e-cigs are old, and out of date. I think I better pay more attention to the dates.. Thanks for the help and info!!!

A lot of suppliers are coming out with ego kits with cartomizers now. Mad Vapes and Liberty Flights both have carto kits.

It is good to have an atty though for testing out juice. That way you don't have to waste a cartomizers. Plus, many people like to drip.

Definitely get yourself some cartomizers! It's all I've ever used.

Atomizer and cartridges are fine to start on. And depending on what ecig you have, it may be all you can use

A cartomizer is a disposable 1piece combined cart and internal atomizer coil that replaces both the atomizer and cart. They hold more juice, are less likely to leak, need juice less often, and in general provide a more consistent vaping experience more often. However they have limited lives - with thin clear juices you can get 4-7 days good use out of each, more if you are willing to vape it slightly degraded. I usually vape a pair of cartos, one on each of two models and I get 2 weeks out of one kind and 2-3 weeks out of the other, occasionally longer. They cost 2-3 dollars apiece for basic cartos. but they have a bit of a learning curve as you learn to fill them fully, let them settle so all stuffing is damp, and sense when they need juice so the stuffing doesn't get singed. You cannot put new stuffing in cartos. They are good to try once you have some favorite juices. I find juices with 20% or less VG give me longer good performance/drag out of a carto.

Thanks everyone for all the help, videos and all.. That definitely helped me out a lot! I was so paranoid about doing it wrong and getting nicotine all over my lips. I haven't tried to fill the cart yet that will be right after I place an order for blue foam, a drip tip {whatever that is} and maybe even a cartomizer, and I think I better order more juice, I didn't realize how small 5 ml are. Speaking of juice is one brand better then another, say USA made rather then god only knows where? At FL they didn't have a large selection in stock.

To be honest, I could never get the cartridge to work properly.

It's just personal preference on the juice. I get my juice from nhaler and love it. It's PG probably from china. I think his high voltage juice is US made.

Also vape juice from Vapor Station (US), Vapor Bomb (US), Backwoods Brew (US).

There are sooo many good vendors out there! I must have over 100 bottles of juice and I haven't scratched the surface or tried half the vendors I've read about.

My main every day vapes are nhalers nuport and Vapor Bomb peach.

    You have an ego?

Get some boge 2.0 cartomizers from Joogler Juice. Use the code ECF5OFF for $5.00 off your first order. You get a free bottle of juice. Also pick up a couple of drip tips.

No I have Riva 510, I don't know what the difference between them are, but Reprisal also recommend a Boge LR (2.0 ohm) cartomizers.
So do you think that would make a difference having the Riva and not the Ego, that cartmonizer would be work?

Thanks, and for the code too..
