Six weeks ago, <---cop started this thread. He was having problems vaping Boba's, like me and a few others. Shortness of breath, coughing, feelings of congestion.

Which was too bad. Because like me (and virtually everybody else), he really LIKED Boba's! I had stopped vaping it much because of those same reactions.

Then Porphy popped in to suggest a test, if <---cop and I were interested. It involved free samples of Boba's, so I thought hard about it for about one second and jumped up and down yelling, "Me! Me!" (<---cop, being out of town at the time, was tardy to the party and besides, lives in Oz.) So here's what I discovered, thanks to Porphy's generous idea.

All I have to do is steep it for 2-3 weeks. (With the cap off or on: the only thing that seems to matter is Time.) I've never steeped any juice before, so I didn't know.

The original 30ml I'd ordered, which made me cough, etc., by then was 3 or 4 weeks old. I thought I'd try it before Porphy's new samples arrived, to check my "base" reaction.

Uh, it didn't make me cough at all. Didn't give me "shortness of breath." Just that fine Boba's taste in all its pleasurable glory.

Then Porphy's samples arrived. A sample in the green 100ml bottle he uses, and another sample in the 6ml white plastic bottle typical with venders. To see if the different plastics might have any effect.

Loaded both samples in new 6ml tanks and started vaping. Both tasted great, natch. And both instantly made me cough, produced shortness of breath, congested feeling, etc.

I tried hard, but couldn't really tell any difference in taste between the two bottles of different plastics, nor in cough effect, etc.

I suspected my reaction had to do with just letting Boba's sit and steep for awhile.

Suspected some flavor ingredient in Boba's and NOT the 100% VG, since a bottle of AV's Flue Cured (also 100% VG) tasted great and didn't produce those effects.

Sure enough, after a couple of weeks, Porphy's new samples of Boba's ceased having those effects on me. And I still couldn't taste any real difference between the two plastic bottles' juice.

I don't know if this is much help to the other few ECFers with similar reactions to Boba's. Or much help to Porphy. I hope so, but it's sure helped me! His suggested test let me eliminate all variables except Time. Which is my case with Boba's is about 2-3 weeks.

Good to know, since I love the stuff and won't hesitate to order refills, now.

Also good to know about Porphy's and Alien Vapors' amazing customer service. Maybe it's typical of venders to jump in and offer something like this to the very few who seem to have similar reactions to one of their juices, but I doubt it.

It's things like this (along with great products) that make a customer for life.

Best wishes in California, AV--and thanks again!

Wow, I'm not alone! How awesome of Ben to help you out like that. I just got a new bottle of Boba's and only let it steep a couple days and I've actually resorted to using my asthma inhaler I hadn't used since I smoked. I also have their other VG juices and I get none of those affects. Thanks a ton for figuring this out! I vape Boba's all day every day and wondered why I felt like I was smoking again hahahaha

Great to hear you've figured your issue out!
Did you leave the BB in the green bottle for the steeping period?

The reason I ask is that when I started the original thread, the juice was at least 6 weeks old but had been stored in the original 100ml bottle the whole time.

My original batch has been sitting in clear bottles for the last 6 weeks.
I did cut 30ml down with an additional 10% pure PG and have let it sit.
Might be time to try again.

Thank you very much for reporting your experience. I searched for 3 hours last night looking for just this information. I read the original thread several times but missed your link to this one somehow. I am confident that this is my issue as well.

I got a sample from a friend and had no problems with it all. I ordered my own and the same symptoms started up right away. Coughing, tightness/pain in the chest and stuffy sinuses and even some nausea. I am so happy that there is such a good chance that they will go away after sufficient steeping time.
