Hello All, New to this, NEED some help.

I am 28 years old, and had been smoking cigarettes for about 9 years, around a pack a day. I recently purchased the Ego e-cig. I ordered 18mg menthol e-juice with it from awesome vapor. Ok, I have been vaping for around 4 days now, and haven't had an analog in around 24 hours. I wanted to switch completely immediately but this e-cig is lacking in some things. I am looking for a BIG throat hit, and this is providing hardly any at all. I am looking for a menthol flavor I can feel, and again, lacking.

I am open to purchasing another e-cig to get what I need out of this. I am really determined to give up analogs completely, but it isn't easy when this isn't providing the satisfaction I am looking for. I have done some research and have found that maybe going to a 5v/6v unit will provide what I am looking for? Or is it possible to get what I want out of my Ego? I mean, as it stands now, it feels like I am just sucking in air and exhaling it. I heard the higher the nicotine content, the better the throat hit, should I try a higher one?

Basically, I just need some help making this experience a satisfying one. Please, experienced people, knowledgeable people, Help me.

You should be able to get good TH with your Ego. Also, I've read that menthol juices tend to give more TH. If you're new to vaping it may be in your technique. It takes a bit of experimentation to get it right at first. Fill your mouth with vapor, then inhale. Try a longer, slower draw and don't inhale directly to your lungs. Experiment until you get the desired effect. I'm using the less powerful 510 batteries and they can give a TH that will choke me if I want it to.

I think you can get what you need without abandoning your Ego. Just like cigs there are all sorts of different flavors available which provide more or less throat hit and vapor. I find that my usb Passthrough battery (5V) gives a much better hit and vapor than any of my 3.7 batteries.

Don't give up on your Ego just yet, you just need to get the right juice and it sounds to me like you should step up to a 36 mg. This will help you to take the edge off your withdrawals and get you over the hump.

Like ciggies, it's difficult at best to recommend "the perfect flavor or brand" that is right for someone else, something I'm sure you can relate to since everybody is different. I smoked a pack a day of Camel or Marlboros for 30 years and quickly discovered that just like cig brands, there is a giant difference between e-liquid flavors. Although I only smoked Greenies on occasion, I quickly found vaping menthols is the closest thing to a real ciggie.

I have tried quite a few types and found Dunhill Menthol and Nuport Menthol (Vapor4life) have a just the right blend between tobacco and menthol with a great throat hit similar to the real thing. Other menthols I have tried were either too weak, mixed with nutty flavors or tasted like cough syrup without any tobacco punch.

It appears that I am not alone as many on here that also list the Dunhill Menthol as one of their favorites, then again we are all different.

I feel your pain and I hope this helps, I'm sure other will chime in...hang in there buddy not everybody can just make the switch quickly. Order some 5ml's of a couple different kinds, before you go up to 30 or 60mls until you find the one that works for you.

If you need a ciggie, have one or you are going to drive yourself nuts while finding a good e-liquid that you'll be satisfied with. You can always taper down the strength of your e-liquid later when you are in a better place.

Totally agree with above,,,,,I had my Ego since Feb 11 and never went back to analogs..Was a 1 1/2 a day pack smoker myself,,,Marlboro lights....Use only 12-16 mg nic to satisfy my nic needs....Also, use about 70% PG / 30% VG in my juices....
It did take me a while to get used to "drawing" on a PV verses a normal analog and also to fine my "Sweet Spot" with the juice type....But, after the first month of trial and error....I am complelely happy with my vaping....Everyone is different in their needs, wants, and desire,,,,so hang in there and Enjoy the Adventure...

I'm using Dekang 24mg Menthol (the stuff from China) and it suits me just fine. Nice TH, but not enough to send me into a coughing fit.

Ego will give you TH as well as menthol juice. It is all about getting the right strength and juice. Anything lower than 24 mgs is like sucking air to me.

What brand of cigs were you smoking? Full flavor or lights?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the nicotine level and how you're drawing makes a big difference. A slower draw tends to help so it gives the atomizer more time to heat/vape the liquid.

I've already researched techniques, I've tried long slow draws into my mouth, then inhaled to the lungs, nothing. I've tried fast draws, nothing, I've tried all inhalation techniques, and I am not getting the TH I need.

Thank you for the welcome and kind words. As far as getting the USB passthrough goes, this won't really help when I am away from a computer right? I mean, without it being hooked up to the passthrough, it won't vape 5v without being direct connected? I have some 24mg, and 36mg juice on the way, as I hope that helps with what I am looking for. But if it does not, is it worth trying moving to a 5v/6v unit?

I was stuffing my own, was using Menthol Tobacco, in a Menthol tube. I suppose they would be considered full flavor.

That sounds great, but to be honest right now, flavor is secondary for me. I NEED that satisfying throat hit I can feel, even if it doesn't taste good at this point. Once I achieve the throat hit, I can then focus on the flavor. So, if I get the TH I am looking for and it's got great flavor, that's just a bonus =)
