Hi everyone,

New to vaping and lurked here for a bit gathering information to make the switch from smoking to vaping which I have now done. Wanted to introduce myself and say hello (and use up 1 of the 5 posts I have to becoming a full member).

I do have a question with my current setup and practices etc. I ended up with an Aspire K1 clearo and Istick 30W.

I'm still experimenting with flavors from the local shops, but am noticing that nothing tastes like it does at the shop. Even after rinsing the tank out etc. Is it a good practice to use a new BDC coil when switching flavors?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site Narmbjorn, i never switched coils when changing flavours as usually after a few pulls on it the new flavour came through. What you should think about is that that clearo they use has just had that one flavour in it all that time so has well and truly soaked into it, so give it awhile to pull through. Only time i changed my coils was when I got a lung full of burn!! There are other possible reasons such as nicotine strength and such but generally whenever I changed flavours it didn't take long to come through.

hi @Narmbjorn and welcome to the forum. The sampler's at the vape shop don't have nicotine in them either. Like Kevin above said, I just clean out the glass part and then just puff through the flavor change. The only time it's an issue is if you're vaping a really strong flavor like menthol and then switching to a cream. Good luck in your vape journey.

Welcome. I ran into the same problem at my local b&m shop. At the time, I was using an istick 20watt and kanger sub tank mini, but the testers at the shop were cheap clearo testers. I ended up buying 3 or 4 bottles of juice that tasted amazing at the shop but when I got them home and threw some in my subtank I was very unhappy. I am not familiar with your tank but differences in testers and your setup can create huge differences in flavor. I don't know if your can go to a different shop with testers closer to your tank. On a different note as a previous poster stated, when I was using a tank I only switch out the coils if the flavored were drastically different. I always rinsed my tank out with very hot water, filled my tank up and was off to the races. I hope you find and juice that you like. Good luck

Hi and welcome. Good advice you're hearing. I never changed coils, back when I was using clearos, and never had a problem with the flavor pulling thru after a few hits. (Now I rebuild, and I do wash the tank and rewick, but mostly because it's easy to do.) FWIW, the best cleaner for pre-made coil heads I have found is high-strength alcohol. Soak the head in it, shake it off and let it dry, then reinstall and go to town. I was always scared to use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing or wood alc). I went to the liquor store and bought a half-pint of Everclear, which works just fine (and is handy to have in the DIY juice kit to up throat hit without raising PG%.) Various nic levels will vary the flavor, and so will wattage. I think, if it were I, I'd buy one or two coil heads in all the ratings available for my tank, and then test each of them up and down your mod's wattage scale until you get the best combo of cloud vs. flavor you can manage. Another possibility, once you've got a good flavor working with the right combo of coil head and wattage on your machine, is to add a few drops of pure VG to your juice bottle for a bit more cloud. A drop or two-- not much-- of pure grain alcohol will bump throat hit a bit. Remember anything you add will reduce the % of flavor and nic in the outcome. The reason I started rebuilding and DIY juice was exactly this: I want to control the vape. You may never find that necessary. Or maybe you will :) Good luck, and happy vaping.
